* AccidentalInnuendo: "And believe me, she's no virgin!" This line (said by Jason about a Beast-deck-using villain) led more than one reader to reply in the comments, "How exactly do ''you'' know?"
* AssPull: The mayor appears all of twice before being revealed as the ManBehindTheMan.
* BrokenBase:
** ''Many'' readers were angered when [[spoiler:Sin declared that she was responsible for Kaiser Ryo's FaceHeelTurn]], which amounted to Occam Razor shoving his created villain into the only non-outside-influenced heel turn in the series.
** Trish ''smiling'' as her brother was absorbed by the Seal of Orichalcos led to another case, as while some fans viewed Patrick as irredeemable, others declared Trish a DesignatedHero. Occam Razor himself decided he'd gone too far.
* SalvagedStory: After Trish's final duel with her brother, she smiles and gloats as the Seal of Orichalcos takes him. A large fan outcry ensued as numerous readers argued this was ''far'' from heroic. A couple of chapters later, Critias lambasts Trish for taking pride in doing something like that to her own family and warns her that doing anything like that again will cost her his support - a scene ''not'' in the original outline, according to Occam Razor, but added only after he'd realized he was turning his heroine into a sociopath.
* UnexpectedCharacter: While many of the Cameo characters might have come as little surprise, the Puppeteer of Death (who was actually an important villain in the fic) might have been much more unexpected. This obscure Yu-Gi-Oh character only appeared in the manga (he was replaced by Ghost Kaiba in the anime) and even to fans of the manga, wasn't the most memorable villain.
