* AdOfWin
* AmericansHateTingle: He can draw this reaction on Youtube videos of his X drum solos that aren't on his own account among some of the angrier Western metal fans, specifically those who are prejudiced against anything "effeminate" or non-Western in the first place no matter what - outright racist remarks aren't unknown.
* CargoShip: Due to his habits of collapsing and rolling around on the stage during lives, some people jokingly ship Yoshiki with The Floor.
* EstrogenBrigade: Yoshiki, unlike most heavy metal/hard rock artists, has a sizable female following.
* FandomBerserkButton: As mentioned on the main page, "Yosheekee" and "Yokashi" and "Yoshi" are fairly good ways to evoke at the very least an EyeRoll and FacePalm. Using any of these pronounciations signifies that [[TheyJustDidntCare you don't care]] about how to get his name right.
* FanNickname: "Yo-chan" (bestowed by hide, who was arguably one of his biggest fans as well as his guitarist), "Yoyo" by fans, "Ľo$hiki" by FanHater, "Pony" by people who think his face looks pony-like, and "Princess" by Brazilian fans and fans elsewhere.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Yoshiki would often fake falls and collapses in shows for the sake of drama and showmanship. When he collapsed for real from his neck injuries in 1995 and 2008, it was written off by some as drama and fanservice.
* HoYay: There was once a massive FlameWar and shipping war as to whether he had more with hide or Toshi. It's almost a draw between the two, though with some of Yoshiki's statements in TheNewTens it's obvious that he and hide had some sort of actual connection or feelings, whether they were actually acted on offstage or not.
* InternetBackdraft: There are so many ways to start InternetBackdraft related to Yoshiki that it would take its own page. Suffice it to say that unless at least some other people are talking about him favorably or no one around knows about him at all, and even then on some occasions, even mentioning him will lead to immediate InternetBackdraft.
* LauncherOfAThousandShips: Is this in jrock fandom in general. There is SlashFic of him with everyone in Music/XJapan, including the (canon straight) Heath and even FoeYay with Taiji. Then Atsushi Sakurai of Music/BuckTick, and Music/{{Gackt}}. Then ''everyone'' from Music/DirEnGrey. Then Music/{{Miyavi}}. There is, arguably, SlashFic of Yoshiki with ''every other person in Japanese rock a YaoiFangirl has ever heard of,'' and [[RefugeInAudacity there is even a fic]] of him and JohnnyDepp [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment doing it on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.]] Then there's the usually heterosexual [[MarySue original female characters]]...
* MemeticMutation- The aforementioned Rice Monster, which he still hasn't quite lived down.
* MisBlamed: Some of the concerts were canceled for reasons beyond his control, and the miniature scandal that was the Photoshopping and announcement of 8000 fans for the promotional video shoot was due to the graphic designers and PR people involved. A fair amount of the hate toward Yoshiki is actually either misaimed or over things he can't do anything about, and a fair amount of it is haters simply jumping on the bandwagon of who's popular to hate.
* OneOfUs: He likes {{KISS}} (and many other HardRock and Music/HeavyMetal bands), Korean pop, [[Music/{{Vocaloid}} Hatsune Miku]], MichaelJackson, ''OnePiece'', ''{{Naruto}}'', ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'', and ''Literature/{{Twilight}}''.
** And added Anime/SaintSeiya and Anime/AttackOnTitan to the list...
* TookTheBadFilmSeriously - Yoshiki doing the music for ''{{Saw}} IV'' and for ''RepoTheGeneticOpera''. Yeah, one of the once-top drummers in the world, who *could,* had he gone classical rather than rock, be a virtuoso pianist, who created and led one of Japan's most successful rock bands, who is an extremely talented musician....working for people who, in the case of ''Repo'', couldn't even pronounce his name correctly.
* UnfortunateImplications:
** His... shall we say, ''blase'' attitude toward alcohol abuse has raised some concern. While [[ValuesDissonance most Japanese wouldn't see it as unusual or troubling]], to Westerners, he often comes off as an alcoholic or at least someone who drinks way too much and is way too concerned with drinking, even having somewhat curbed his worst excesses such as DUI and bar fights.
** He's occasionally said some borderline-sexist things regarding women (including comparing them to his car in the 2004 Bull Run video) and his early lyrics have gone right from sexism into misogyny. That said, he doesn't seem to consistently demonstrate hatred for women and appeared to become more respectful over time, so it was most likely a case of male privilege without anyone around to check it + SmallReferencePools in reference to women (e.g. if you tend to meet a lot of stereotypical people, it makes your view of said people more likely to be stereotypical) as opposed to outright hatred or sexist misogyny.
** That he has chosen to tour Russia despite institutionalized homophobia and without personally speaking out about it has led some people to become very angry or disappointed.
* ValuesDissonance: What delayed the international release of ''Yoshiki Classical.'' Part of the cover art designed involves a picture with Yoshiki sitting over a mirrored surface and the reflection of his face being his skull, and another pic being him and his piano mirrored in "blood" red. While this might seem innocuous enough in the US and in VisualKei subculture (and is quite tame compared to almost any of his Music/XJapan cover art), it is ''highly offensive'' in some of the cultures and countries for which the international release was meant (including Japan itself outside of visual kei and gothic subculture) - and this led to the delay of the release.
** And ''Yoshiki Classical'' still got hit with an 18+ rating in Russia because of Yoshiki's known androgyny and bisexuality. ''Never mind'' that most of the pieces are instrumentals (and the one that isn't both not having horribly explicit lyrics + said lyrics being in Italian anyway), therefore making the album ''nothing'' MoralGuardians could find serious objection to outside [[UnfortunateImplications from the artist's appearance and personal life.]]
