* AcceptableLifestyleTargets: Never mind that Screweyes' circus is ''visually spectacular.'' The people who would go to see it are repeatedly branded as freaks, jerks, and "weirdos", and Cecilia even says outright that there's something wrong with them.
* [[BizarroEpisode Bizarro Movie]]: See also RandomEventsPlot on the main page.
** Rex's sudden musical number in the middle of the parade that somehow everyone knows the words to, is a particularly heavy one.
* CreepyAwesome: Screweyes keeps crows around and commands them in order to master his fear of them. Whoa, bravery test worthy of {{Franchise/Batman}}.
* FauxSymbolism - Professor Screweyes forms himself into a cruciform [[spoiler:before his crows consume him.]]
* IdiotPlot: Seriously, think about it. A scientist from the future goes back in time and collects dinosaurs, force evolves their brains so they're just smart enough to be able to speak and reason on a fourth grade level (except poor Dweeb, who's basically left functionally disabled), brings them to modern day New York and then just drops them off in the city with very vague instructions of finding a fellow scientist without any training or understanding of how modern life functions. The entire city mistakes them for balloons, until one girl points out they're not, just because they happen to be marching with the Thanksgiving Day parade, never mind the fact that they are ''dancing and singing''. Then a good chunk of the plot revolves around the dinos stumbling into trouble, being chased by the authorities and then trying to rescue two kids who stupidly signed a contract with an obviously creepy old man. The time traveler comes back to save everything, but ''after'' all the madness has happened, not before. If anybody in the movie put more than three seconds of thought into their actions, it would be a pretty short story.
** The entire conflict with Screweyes is kicked off by Louie walking into the circus after hours, asking to join, being turned away, ignoring Cecilia's suggestions that they leave, and pestering Screweyes until he relents.
* {{Narm}}: "Let no bad happen!" and Louie's speech about guys who ruin the way the world should be.
** As soon as you realize [[HeyItsThatVoice Cecilia is being voiced by]] [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Lisa Simpson]], it is impossible to take any of her lines seriously anymore.
** The conclusion of Louie and Cecilia's romance storyline goes from cute to utterly creepy as Cecilia basically demands a kiss from Louie. Nobody ever needs to hear Lisa Simpson trying to be flirtatious. Ever.
* NarmCharm: Louie's aforementioned speech, for pairing utter earnestness with words like "stiffs" and "yahoos."
* NightmareFuel: Dr. Screweye's death. Part of the reason it's one of the creepiest things in the movie is that it's left rather vague as to what actually happens to him. The crows land on him but don't move afterward until they fly away, leaving only the possessed screw. It doesn't seem like they eat him (again, no movement from the crows, and Screweyes vanishes ''flesh, bone, clothing and all'') but it's obvious that the crows are, somehow, responsible for his vanishing. All that's left is his screw, which glows ominously and emits a strange mist...and the last crow just blows the mist off and carries the screw away.The scene can leave you suspicious of crows for some time, that's for sure.
** A deleted scene gaves us [[SarcasmMode delightful]] information about Screweyes; as a [[ChildrenAreInnocent kid]], a crow pecked his eye out, which is why he has his metal eye now (which is really just a screw thrust into his socket). He's now a cynic who believes that the world makes no sense and acts accordingly, scaring other people; he also admits that he is, understandably, afraid of crows, and keeps them for company as means to master his fear. [[FridgeHorror One has to wonder about the state of his mind.]]
* ParanoiaFuel: As stated above, this movie will probably leave you suspicious of crows for a while.
* RomanticPlotTumor: The whole romance thing with Louie and Cecilia. Which doesn't really go anywhere.
* ShoutOut: [[Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey "You may open the pod bay doors"]] -Captain Neweyes, in conspicuously podbayless ship
* TastesLikeDiabetes
* TearJerker: "Remember me."
* ToyShip: Louie and Cecilia.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: As noted above, the [[HilariousInHindsight tagline for this movie]] was, seriously, "Steven Spielberg Presents a Dinosaur Movie for the Whole Family!" ''Film/JurassicPark'' is [[RRatedOpening pretty dark from the start so there is informed consent going in]], while the CircusOfFear sequence in this film comes way the eff out of nowhere.
