* DoNotDoThisCoolThing: A few critics, most notably Kevin Thomas of the ''Los Angeles Times'', felt that the film's intended condemnation of violence against women was undermined by how much of its runtime consisted of the villain stalking, terrorizing, and brutalizing helpless female victims in a manner that said critics saw as voyeuristic.
* LesYay: The apparently divorced Sheila and her kids' babysitter (who's just had a shower and is only wearing a towel) lie down in bed next to each other for a moment at one point. Other scenes imply that their relationship is strictly platonic, but alone, the scene can be interpreted suggestively.
* {{Narm}}: The cheesy "There's no known cure for murder" tagline wouldn't be out of place in a horror movie parody.
* RetroactiveRecognition: The late Harvey Atkin, who would make a career as a voice actor in the 90's ([[WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfSamAndMaxFreelancePolice Sam]], [[WesternAnimation/TheSuperMarioBrosSuperShow King]] [[WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfSuperMarioBros3 Koopa]], [[WesternAnimation/JacobTwoTwo Jacob's Dad)]] appears as one of the patients in the hospital.
* ValuesResonance: Sadly, violence against women is still very much a regular occurrence in our society, and the film doesn't pull its punches in condemning it.
