* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The score has a retro feel to it because of longtime composer Toru Fuyuki returning for some music.
* {{Adorkable}}:
** Mirai can certainly elicit this reaction from audiences thanks to his wholesome naivete, gentle disposition, being easily emotional, and his clumsy yet cute attempts to integrate within human society.
** Konomi, a sweet, good-natured, and highly empathetic kindergarten teacher with a fondness for rabbits and UglyCute monsters.
** Teppei is a highly devoted Ultra fan, serving as the local AudienceSurrogate who completely geeks out whenever an Ultra or a kaiju from a classic series pops up. His workstation is filled with monster figures which he uses to help to formulate attack plans and strategies against monsters and aliens with the rest of the team.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: In episode 24, Ryu is talking about how GUYS has grown from a RagtagBunchOfMisfits into something worthy of Earth's previous defense teams. The camera cuts away to Mirai ''with a waterfall of tears streaming from his eyes.'' It doesn't even fit under RuleOfFunny, given how abrupt and random it was. [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight Ryu doesn't even comment on it.]]

* CompleteMonster:
** [[TheManBehindTheMan Alien Empera]], aka [[DarkIsEvil the Lord of Darkness]] and TheEmperor, is the GreaterScopeVillain of the entire Showa continuity. Empera is [[Series/UltramanTaro first mentioned]] as being the reason two planets went into a ForeverWar, and later is shown on screen as the driving force of evil in the Showa era ''Ultra'' shows. In the stage shows, he attempted to wipe out everyone in his timeline through a time travel plot, one that later inspired Ultraman Belial to try his own evil plans. In ''Ultraman Mebius'' proper, finally appearing physically in the final episodes, Empera is the reason that the monsters and aliens have been invading for the past year. He called the below-mentioned Bogal to Earth, and after her death he continued guiding more monsters to Earth to continue softening up the defense forces for his own arrival. His own loyal generals are thrown aside and discarded like trash after [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness they expend their own usefulness]]. In the final battle, Empera kills two of the heroes, Zamushar and Ultraman Hikari’s original host, and almost kills Mebius and Hikari for good. His final plan was to blot out the sun, wiping out all of humanity, just to spite his old enemy Ultra Father. Hateful, cruel and arrogant, Empera proves that sometimes AliensAreBastards.
** [[VillainousGlutton Bogal/Bogar]] ("High-Dimensional Predator (King)") was a sadistic eating machine from another planet and the series's first ArcVillain. Before the events of the series, she [[OmnicidalManiac killed and devoured everyone]] on planet A(a)rb, while also beating Ultraman Hikari to a pulp, leading him to become the vengeful Hunter Knight Tsurugi. After coming to Earth, she calls various other kaiju to the planet to [[FoodChainOfEvil kill and eat them as well]]. The collateral damage involved means nothing to her, nor do the screams of the kaiju she [[SwallowedWhole eats alive]]. When Ultraman Mebius tries to stop her, she simply beats him aside and nearly eats him alive as well, multiple times, at one point dragging it out just to be cruel. Tsurugi tries to confront her more than once, only to be beaten back and nearly killed as well. Eventually we find out that, by storing up power through the monsters she's eating, she's [[OneWingedAngel transformed]] into the [[ActionBomb more-powerful]] [[ShockAndAwe Bogalmons/Bogarmons]]. Should she be killed, she [[TakingYouWithMe would set off an explosion large enough to wreck Tokyo and everything else for miles around]]. Uncaring of this, she set off to murder Mebius one more time within GUYS HQ.
* ContinuityLockout: The series relies a lot on the mythology created by the Showa series, so some amount of familiarity with the older Ultra shows is needed in order to get the most out of the show.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Zamsher, a badass alien samurai-like no other who is able to fight two Ultras on even grounds and is quite the AntiHero. [[spoiler:His death in the finale was seen as a major tragedy.]]
** Ultraman Hikari, thanks to his engaging redemption arc which greatly helped to flesh out his character and past, his sleek design, and interactions with Mebius. He's been getting constant returns in subsequent installments of the franchise.
** Much like Gomora, Red King, Zetton, Eleking and [[Series/UltramanTiga Golza]] before him, Kelbim has seemingly managed to consecrate himself as the signature kaiju of this show, and has been featured from time to time in newer entries.
** [[VillainousGlutton Bogarl]] has received a fair share of fans as well. She's often liked for her creepy, intimidating design, unique abilities and powers relating to her capability of devouring other monsters whole and being quite the challenge for the heroes for [[ArcVillain the first 10 episodes]].
* EvilIsCool:
** Alien Empera is a formidable EvilOverlord and master manipulator who has a history deeply entrenched in the Ultra Series' lore, and leaves quite an impression despite appearing towards the end of the series. It's no wonder to many fans that he was able to rally so many powerful kaiju into his army.
** Alien Mefilas III, the last of the Four Heavenly Kings serving Empera, is no slouch either; much like the original Mefilas from ''Ultraman'', he's a cunning foe with an impressive knack for manipulation, a code of honour and in addition retains the original's GracefulLoser traits, even opting to FaceDeathWithDignity when being executed for his failure.
* FanDislikedExplanation: A number of fans disliked the decision to make Alien Mefilas III a separate individual from the one that appeared in ''Series/{{Ultraman}}'', as the two are [[IdenticalStranger functionally identical]] to each other down to sharing the same voice actor, not to mention having the original Alien Mefilas make good on his word to challenge the original Ultraman again would make for an awesome ContinuityNod and give their showdown more emotional weight.
* FanNickname: Due to his design based on the leopard cat, Mebius is sometimes called as "Space Cat".
* HarsherInHindsight: Captain Sakomizu's actor, Minoru Tanaka, commited suicide by hanging back in 2011. In 2022, Horiyuki Watanabe, who portrayed Commander Ishimuro in ''Series/UltramanGaia'', become another attack team's commander actor who commited suicide, also by hanging no less.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** Among the scrapped concepts for the Four Heavenly Kings was an alien that spoke with a British accent. In 2018, the franchise would introduce [[Characters/UltraSeriesUltramanTregear Ultraman Tregear]], an evil Ultra with mannerisms designed after a ''James Bond'' villain who speaks with a British accent in the English dub of ''Series/UltraGalaxyFightNewGenerationHeroes''. For bonus points, Tregear was Hikari's assistant before the latter's path of revenge shattered his worldview that Ultras were purely good and instigated his own turn to darkness, giving him a strong connection to this show's characters and lore.
** Teppei's encyclopedic and borderline otaku-level of knowledge on the Ultras and Kaijus' history make him some kind of prototype to Gai Ikari from ''Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger'' five years later, which is also an [[MilestoneCelebration anniversary series]] for ''Franchise/SuperSentai''.
* HoYay: Mirai and Ryu have some moments of this:
** The pair are MistakenForGay in episode 24. After Mirai and Ryu (possessed by Yapool) have a stare-off, George asks "Don't tell me you two are like that!" When Ryu replies, "Actually, we have a secret we can't tell anyone," George and the others go into shocked hysterics.
** When Ryu has a day off, he says to the crew that he doesn't have any plans. They tease him saying that Mirai might ask him out on a date. [[spoiler: Mirai kind of did... he did bring Ryu out on a picnic anyways.]]
* MagnificentBastard: [[EvilGenius Alien Mefilas III]] is the last of the [[CoDragons Four]] [[EliteFour Heavenly Kings]] serving [[BigBad Alien Empera]] and Ultraman Mebius' most cunning foe, learning from the mistakes of his fallen teammates, he takes a more intelligent approach to defeating Mebius by brainwashing all of humanity to see him as the heroic protector of Earth and Mebius as the evil invader, including GUYS who he sends out to personally destroy Mebius themselves all while making sure the original Series/{{Ultraman}} does not interfere by clarifying that he won't harm any humans. Nearly succeeding at breaking Mebius and winning, Mefilas manages to retaliate effectively when Mebius uncovers his deceptions, even with GUYS and the original Ultraman's backup, up until the latter calls him out on breaking his own terms by fighting, which Mefilas recognizes signifies his defeat, he then leaves Earth without further trouble while [[WeWillMeetAgain swearing to return]], before quietly apologizing when executed for his failure.
* MemeticMutation: See the [[Memes/UltraSeries Franchise page]].
* {{Moe}}:
** Parodied and Lampshaded, Teppei's rich family has a maid actually named "Moe-Moe-Chan".
** Konomi certainly has her Moe aspects derived from originally being a kindergarten teacher who is entrusted into the role of an attack force member and has quite the CutenessProximity with Lim Eleking.
* TheScrappy: Mitsuhiko Hirukawa, because of his selfish "Every man for himself" attitude, and his lack of hesitation to reveal Mebius's true identity even after he [[UngratefulBastard saved his life]], is widely hated by the audience. Even though he's meant to be a HateSink, he never [[KarmaHoudini receives any on-screen punishment]] for his actions, making it hard to [[LoveToHate derive much enjoyment]] out of hating him.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** Out of all the classic Ultra Brothers, (minus Zoffy, who never has a permanent host/disguise) the only one whose host/disguise did not return was Taro. Originally, the series's crew wanted to incorporate Kotaro Higashi, Taro's host, into the story, but his actor, Saburo Shinoda, was unavailable at the time due to attending a funeral as well as other reasons and thus Kotaro was scrapped from the show entirely, with Taro being voiced by a different actor as well. Both Susumu Kurobe (Shin Hayata) and Kohji Moritsugu (Dan Moroboshi) lamented that the actor wasn't able to reprise his role.
** Aya Jinguji, played by actress Aiko Ito, the girl whom Mirai meets and befriends in [[Film/UltramanMebiusAndTheUltraBrothers the first tie-in film]]. She's part of GUYS and apparently develops [[ShipTease feelings]] for Mirai and reappears in episodes 43 and 44, where her blossoming relationship with Mirai is briefly touched upon. However, she abruptly vanishes in episode 45, is only seen in a flashback in the first part of the finale and doesn't even return to say farewell to Mirai/Mebius when he has to go back to the Land of Light. You could say her subplot was LeftHanging.
