* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Was Pete really in love with Sharon at the end of Season 2, or was it a subconcious desire to sabotage Sharon & Johnny's relationship out of jealousy that one of his friends had met the love of their life whilst he was still looking for "the one"?
* AngstWhatAngst: Pete tells Sharon he's in love with her in the Season 2 finale. She rejects him, and he promptly flies to France. He then returns to Boston in the second episode of the season, completely over Sharon due to his new French girlfriend.
* GrowingTheBeard: Season 2.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** Melissa, Pete's girlfriend in Season 1, breaks up with him in the pilot episode & gives him a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech telling him that he'll end up dying alone. At the end of the SeriesFauxnale, .
** "Two Guys, a Girl and a Limo" sees the feuding couples arguing in Adam Carolla's limo. He dispenses some wisdom that's helpful to Sharon and Johnny, but he insists that Berg and Ashley don't work together and would be better off staying away from each other. They ultimately start dating but eventually break up.
* HilariousInHindsight: In a Season 2 episode, Berg realises that he slept with Pete's girlfriend 3 years before they met & when he tells Pete, he questions if he's supposed to ask every girl he dates if she "intends to date Pete Dunville in 3 years?" - In the later episodes of Season 4, Pete starts a relationship with Ashley nearly 3 years after she started dating Berg.
* HoYay: Pete & Berg. At one point after a fight, they reconcile and hug in the middle of Johnny & Sharon's wedding ceremony, leading Robert Goulet (Who was conducting the ceremony) to remark they'll marry the guys later. When it's legal.
* OneTrueThreesome: Pete, Berg and Sharon.
* RetroactiveRecognition:
** You got Creator/RyanReynolds pre-Film/VanWilder; Traylor Howard pre-Series/Monk, and Creator/NathanFillion pre-Series/Firefly & pre-Series/2009.
** Berg stole Alan's girlfriend.
** Berta is Shaun's mother.
** Ted is Pete's career councillor.
** Pete Hornberger has anger issues.
** Music/Blink 182 played at Beacon Street Pizza on Berg's last night working there.
%%* SeasonalRot: When it became Two Guys and a Girl and the pizza place setting was dropped.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: The intro theme in the first two seasons is a variation of the instrumental of "Blister In The Sun" By the Violent Femmes.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece:
** Recurring guest star Creator/RobertGoulet died in 2007.
** Ashley briefly dates real life MLB shortstop Nomar Garciaparra after breaking up with Berg; Garciaparra would play for the Boston Red Sox between 1996 and 2004, before ultimately retiring in 2009.
** Music/Blink182 would go on hiatus for much of the second half of the 2000s, and Tom [=DeLonge=] would leave the band in 2015. On top of that, the fact they’re performing in the nude is an obvious nod to their music video for "What’s My Age Again?" which was released in 2000.
