* AnimationAgeGhetto: A major contributor to the commercial failure of the movie. Some of the commercials try to avoid showing any traditional animation at all.
** They themselves were seemingly unsure of who their target age group was. They have cutesy cartoony characters like Gune that are clearly aimed for kids, but they also have visible bloodshed and rather graphic onscreen deaths.
* AuthorsSavingThrow: See ExplosiveDecompression in the main page.
* AwesomeMusic: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKlMOblghiQ The]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duE_pFsWWaA whole ]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcnF1ioaBr4 soundtrack]]. Even kind of counts in the ice field scene (where there is ''no'' music at all), as the absence of music makes the scene far more tense and effective than anything that could have been put in.
* CrazyAwesome: Gune is undeniably loopy, but that apparently helps him a lot in his scientist/navigator duties.
-->'''Cale''': I'll tell you a secret: This guy's nuts!
-->'''Korso''': And I'll tell you another: He's never wrong.
** [[BigDamnHeroes "Who is your daddy? GUNE IS YOUR DADDY!"]]
* CreepyAwesome: Preed. He definitely qualifies as 'creepy,' but factor in his one-liners and eventual [[spoiler: MagnificentBastard tendencies]], this is what you get.
* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: Pick a song. Any song.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Gune, for all the reasons mentioned above, and because he is the only really Bluthy character in the whole show. Stith is a fan favorite, and oddly, Korso and Preed have gained a following, sometimes bordering on the [[DracoInLeatherPants Leather Pants]].
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCbaX3Tt280 And, perhaps horrifyingly, KORSO/PREED.]]
* FanPreferredCouple: Many people who watch the movie, nevermind if they enjoyed it or not, seem to ship Korso and Preed together. For others it becomes {{Squick}} because of Preed's appearance as an alien.
* NightmareFuel: [[ApocalypseWow Earth getting blown up.]] The fact that it was in the trailers meant that even kids who didn't see the movie likely saw that scene.
* OneSceneWonder: The guard. It helps that his dialogue was written by JossWhedon.
* ShockingSwerve: [[spoiler: Korso's betrayal.]]
* SpecialEffectsFailure: [[WordOfGod Producer/Director Gary Goldman]] and Creator/DonBluth openly complained about the time-and-budget crunch imposed by Fox at points in the DVD commentary, most notably involving a [[ConspicuousCG CG cliff]] shown near the end of the film that was done in literally the last two weeks of production.
* VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Sure there is plenty of ConspicuousCG. But there's no denying the overflow of pure epic that is [[spoiler: the Titan destroying the Drej and forming a new planet.]] Or the destruction of Earth in the beginning.
* WoobieSpecies: Humans could be seen as this, as Earth was destroyed by the Drej, making humans galactic drifters.
