* HilariousInHindsight: A ''Simpsons'' episode featuring Tony Hawk (who has a skateboarding duel with Homer at the climax) aired only three months after the game's release.
* LowTierLetdown: Homer. While he's incredibly fast and has great grinding balance, his poor turning ability and extremely low jump height make him very clunky to play as (to the point where he can't even do a kickflip off an ollie at the start of the game) and possibly the worst of the playable skaters overall.
* TheProblemWithLicensedGames: The game was panned for its horrible controls, outdated graphics and poor level design. Game Informer magazine gave it a ''zero'' out of ten, saying that they've never seen such a seemingly dedicated effort to fail on even the most fundamental aspects of a game.
* ScrappyMechanic:
** Progress isn't kept between skaters. This means that if you start the game as one character and then switch to another midway though, you have to essentially start from scratch.
** All four of a character's special tricks require a 360 motion. Since the game's controls are extremely clunky and all four inputs are only differentiated by the direction you start the motion, this makes it extremely difficult to get the correct trick for the Skillz School challenges.
