* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: Filthy Finale.
* FridgeHorror: Most of Halloween Town's residents are absent from the game. At one point, it's suggested that they're just hiding from Oogie, it's not out of the question that he Double Killed some of them during his takeover.
* MostAnnoyingSound: Every time you grab something with the Soul Robber, (the main weapon in the game), Jack yells out "Soul Robber!". Every. Single. Time.
** The announcer at the end of every chapter: "CLEAR TIME! COMBO! DAMAGE! EXCLAMATION POINT COUNT! NIGHTMARE RANK! SOUL BONUS!"
* MostWonderfulSound: Racking up combo's gets Jack to declare such things as ''Spine Tingling!'' ''BONE CHILLING!'' There's a wonderful energy to it that makes you feel like you're doing a great job. Even better is when you get it up to ''Horror Show'' and ''Pumpkin King.''
* NightmareFuel: Not as bad as the original movie, but not without its moments.
** Oogie controls Dr. Finkelstein by replacing his brain with...something else. A green brain with eyes at the front.
** Oogie's lair. Bad enough in the film, but it's apparently been expanded into a massive combination between a casino and hell itself.
* {{Sequelitis}}: Downplayed. It's a solid game, but compared to the plot of the movie, the game's story is very straughtforward and uninspired. That doesn't make seeing Halloween Town in action again any less satisfying.
* TearJerker: The reprise of "Sally's Song".
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Oogie kidnaps five other holiday leaders aside from Santa, and you spend the game collecting Holiday doors. No, you don't get to visit St. Patrick's Town, or Valentines Day Land.
** The game is kicked off when Jack leaves for two months to find new and interesting discoveries to improve next year's Halloween. When he comes back, his mission is never brought up again, and we never find out if he did find anything while he was gone.
