* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The whole soundtrack, really. There's a good reason why ''Imaginarium'' (which included both this and ''VideoGame/{{Skullmonkeys}}'') still sells.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3xtj-QnM2s "Klaymen's Theme"]] in particular.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nfqrfy7VFqo "Rock n' Roll Dixie"]] is quite catchy.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
** The pipe house features a bit of rope hanging from the ceiling, which, upon being pulled, plays [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFCbiZHMYEs a weirdly horror-like cutscene]] of an insect descending upon Klaymen from the ceiling, covering him in goop, and retreating back into its hole in the ceiling after Klaymen fails to throw it out of the window, followed by Klaymen wiping the goop off. You wouldn't be blamed for thinking the rope will have some long term effects on a later puzzle, but it doesn't. The only thing it does is play the bug cutscene.
** Interacting with the rude guy also comes off as this, being that he's a fully voiced character in the otherwise-silent first person overworld who [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin very rudely]] tells you to go away.
** "Hey, Klaymen. Say 'knock, knock'!" There's no joke to go with that and the weird little TV guy who says it has nothing at all to do with your quest.
* DracoInLeatherPants: Klogg. In the game he is a cruel and vain tyrant who does everything for his own self-interest, having pretty much no benign qualities. Some fans like to portray him as more a tragic well-intentioned figure or outright redeeming him and making him a JerkWithAHeartOfGold.
* EnjoyTheStorySkipTheGame: The game achieved CultClassic status purely though personality. The game has fantastic world building, an excellent cast of characters, top-notch humor, and a unique claymation art style. The problem is the game’s utterly relentless and obtuse puzzles are very likely to leave you stumped for an extended period of time [[GuideDangit unless you consult a guide.]]
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Ottoborg. He only appears in game in the Hall of Records and as a picture in Willie's room, but he's the most popular of the seven kings. Even Hoborg who created the Neverhood itself isn't as popular as Ottoborg is. It helps that he [[spoiler:[[AllThereInTheManual created both Willie and Big Robot Bil]]]].
* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: [[Funny/TheNeverhood See here.]]
* GeniusBonus: Several of the stories in the Hall of Records get much funnier if you're familiar with the esotericisms being parodied (like Gnosticism).
** There are some jokes (like Willie's "Absalom" crack) that ''only'' make sense if you've read the Bible.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff:
** The Japanese love Neverhood. So much so the publishers of the Japanese port made their own GaidenGame for it (without the input or consent of the original creators).
** Not to mention a very large percentage of the fandom is from Poland. There wasn't even a Polish translation of the game. There was a ''Russian'' translation, but there's only a few fans from Russia, interestingly.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: It might not sink in at first, but it's very sweet how [[spoiler: Hoborg quickly stops himself and amends his reflexive "NO!" when Klogg tries to take his crown, and then repeats himself much more gently. It shows just how kind and benevolent a creator he really is, that he's loathe to even so much as raise his voice in reprimanding his creations]].
* HilariousInHindsight: Detailed in the extremely long Hall of Records is Hoborg's story, which mentions he originally wanted to name his world "the Everhood". Years later would a game be released under the name ''VideoGame/{{Everhood}}'', which also contains an extremely long hallway. Though ''Everhood's'' hallway is more like an EndlessCorridor.
* MemeticMutation: The silly soundtrack of the game is often used as background music to ''VideoGame/GarrysMod'' videos.
* {{Narm}}: [[spoiler:How Klaymen defeats Klogg in the bad ending: He abruptly socks him in the face.]]
* NauseaFuel:
** During the Robot Bil cutscene, Bil crushes the purple Weasel that's threatening to eat Willie. We are then treated to a shot of the creature's slimy guts exploding into the room and onto Willie.
** The cutscene involving a giant cockroach-like bug falling onto Klaymen and sliming up his face.
** The "Making Of" video has a guy puking in a sink. No VomitDiscretionShot here. The good news at least it is in black and white, making it considerably less gross looking than it could be.
* NightmareFuel: [[NightmareFuel/TheNeverhood Has its own page]].
* {{Padding}}: The Hall of Records; as well as the memory puzzle. In the case of the Hall of Records, it goes on for several rooms, and Klaymen's walking speed isn't very fast.
* PlayerPunch: [[spoiler:Bil and Willie falling into the void below the Neverhood.]]
%% * SelfFanservice: Klogg, especially on humanisation.
* TearJerker: [[TearJerker/TheNeverhood Has its own page.]]
* UnfortunateCharacterDesign: [[spoiler:Some of Hoborg's new creations in the good ending have dark brown skin and big red lips, making them bear a resemblance to {{Blackface}}]].
* UglyCute:
** Klaymen has a narrow head to contrast with a big body, moves around kind of awkwardly [[spoiler:and has kind of a high voice]], but his mannerisms are quite cute in a childlike sense.
** Willie is weird and goofy, but he's plenty likeable and friendly, adding to his sense of charm.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The clay animation is nothing sort of amazing for its time, and it holds up reasonably well even today!
