* AdaptationDisplacement: The movie is far better known than the book it's adapted from, The Wheel Spins by Ethel Lina White.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Charters and Caldicott, the two comic relief Englishmen, were so popular with audiences that they appeared in several other, unrelated films.
* HoYay: Charters and Caldicott, especially when they share a bed (and a pair of pyjamas) together at the hotel during the film's first act. The maid they share the room with notices.
* SlowPacedBeginning: The story doesn't move to the train until 28 minutes into the film, leaving a bunch of WhatHappenedToTheMouse victims back at the inn (the manager, the maid, Iris's pals Julie and Blanche).
* SpecialEffectsFailure: The model town used in the introduction sequence is very well made and fairly convincing... until a toy car that obviously has no driver rolls through and ruins everything (if you hadn't already noticed the three human figurines that don't move).
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotPolitical: Todhunter, who surrenders to the enemies but dies anyway, sure seems like a swipe at UsefulNotes/NevilleChamberlain and the decision to appease Hitler rather than confront him. The film was released in cinemas a week after the Munich Agreement.
