* AdaptationDisplacement: Although the books did alright, the movies have now almost completely overshadowed them in popularity.
* ClicheStorm: No need to hide the spoilers here. The bandmates, on the verge of fame, split up because giant [[SellOut artistic corporations are soulless.]] And wouldn't you know it, they get back together after the climax.
* CoveredUp: "Cinderella" was originally by a group called Play.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** The plot of the first movie was how Galleria's (aka Raven) ego caused dissension amongst the group eventually causing the other girls to leave. Raven left the group in real life because of "backstage catfights."
** Though the two eventually reconciled, one has to wonder what Raven and Adrienne must have felt about sharing the stage again without each other knowing [[spoiler:on season 2 of ''Series/TheMaskedSinger''.]]
** All the group's songs about being sisters and friends for life, when their real life consisted of many feuds, both during and after the franchise and band ended. Besides what happened with Raven, [[https://people.com/movies/cheetah-girls-raven-symone-kiely-williams-heal-feud/ Kiely and Adrienne]] also ended up in a feud to the point that they've stopped speaking to each other.
*** In the second film, Galleria isn't happy about Chanel spending so much time with Marisol, partly because Marisol is also their competition. In the same article above, Raven revealed that she became friends with, and has since remained the closest to, Belinda (Marisol's actress) because they both felt ostracized from the group on set.
* SignatureSong:
** ''The Cheetah Girls'': "Cinderella" and "Cheetah Sisters".
** ''The Cheetah Girls 2'': "The Party's Just Begun", "Strut" and "Amigas Cheetahs".
** ''The Cheetah Girls: One World'': "Cheetah Love", "Dance Me If You Can" and "One World".
* UnintentionallySympathetic:
** Galleria's mother, Dorothea, in the first film (in the beginning, at least). Viewers are supposed to side against her for being so protective and worrying about Galleria signing a record deal with Jackal. This is ignoring the fact that Dorothea knows much more about the music industry than Galleria does, and she only wanted Galleria and the other girls to get signed without any issues from the record label.
** Uncle Kamal from the third movie. He's made out to look like a hard-ass standing in the way of his nephew's vision for his movie, but considering the amount of time and money Vikram has wasted and the fact that he was doing him a HUGE favor by greenlighting his movie, Kamal has every right as the producer to pull the plug on the project if need be.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic:
** Vikram from the third movie. As Chanel's love interest, we are supposed to cheer for him to not only get with her, but to also get his movie made. The problem is that he is directly responsible for all the drama in the movie. Instead of telling the Cheetahs off the bat that he could only put one of them in his movie, he outright lies to them and has them fly to the other side of the planet under false pretenses. We also learn through his uncle, Kamal, that Vikram has taken incompetence to new levels by revealing that Vik had somehow managed to both go over budget and fallen behind schedule without even shooting a single frame of film. And the cherry on top of the sundae, the only reason Vik is getting a chance to make a movie on such a high level is because the previously mentioned uncle is a high-powered producer for the movie studio.
** The Cheetah Girls themselves are viewed this way by non-fans and it's not without merit. The Cheetahs as a group can come off as spoiled, loud and annoying. Plus, it's hard to feel sorry for them when their dream of becoming superstar pop idols doesn't come true when they live such privileged lives. (Winning their school's talent show despite withdrawing from it, getting to travel to two different countries, getting to be in a big budget Bollywood movie, just to name a few). They're no better individually either.
*** Chanel is probably the least sympathetic out of the four. In the first movie, it is implied that her mom has been neglecting her in favor of her new boyfriend, Luke. However, the worst we see is her mom rushing out the door because she was running late for a date with Luke, leaving no time for her to listen to Chanel talk about the Cheetah Girls; and postponing a shopping date with Chanel when Luke surprised her with Broadway tickets, but still leaving her credit card for Chanel to treat herself to something nice. This, in Chanel's mind, made it perfectly alright for her to max out mommy's credit card. When her mother is rightfully furious about this, Chanel gives the feeble excuse that she "thought they'd be rich by now" with a record deal and it would have been fine. In the second movie, Chanel acts like a complete brat to Luke for most of the film, even when he graciously played host to her friends when they got themselves into the singing competition and is generally nice to her. And in the third movie, she completely overlooks the fact that Vik lied to her and being forced to audition against her friends for the leading lady part and still hooks up with him.
*** Aqua's personality changing from movie to movie (being uptight and snooty in the first and an airhead with a bottomless pit for a stomach in two and three) as well as lack of real character development make it hard to connect with her. Even fans commented on her character's lack of a real personality.
