* AlasPoorScrappy: In retrospect, the super bowl performance was such a disaster it's not difficult kind of feeling bad for them.
** Hell, [=2011=] was ''not'' a good year for the Peas. Aside from the aforementioned Super Bowl performance, "The Beginning" became their lowest selling and most critically panned album in their career, ''The Black Eyed Peas Experience'' was not well received at all, hatred of them was from all sides (even from some of their own fans) and to top it off, they announced they were going on hiatus, which is still ongoing. Damn.
* CriticalDissonance: This is especially true for their song "My Humps", which was savaged by critics but still managed to become exceedingly popular and even won the 2007 Grammy Award for "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal", in addition to the music video winning a VMA for "Best Hip-Hop Music Video."
** Incredibly enough, ''The E.N.D'' wasn't very well-received, but the album singles were.
* DorkAge: Two critically panned albums and one unsuccessful album later, they'll probably be stuck in one for a while. Even better, they went on hiatus.
* EarWorm: Hear ''any'' song by them, and it will play in your head all day long!
* FaceOfTheBand: Either Fergie or will.i.am. Good luck finding an average fan that knows the names of apl.de.ap and Taboo.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: To the Filipinos. Mainly because apl.de.ap influenced two songs by the band featuring Tagalog lyrics ([[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wESgcExetso Bebot]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3wUZw9S2PM The APL Song]]), and about being a Filipino.
* HypeBacklash: They experienced this '''hard''' as their 2011 Super Bowl performance was panned by critics and viewers alike; in the matter of two weeks their massive popularity was almost completely destroyed.
** The relentless hype/advertising for their halftime show during that year's NFL playoffs probably contributed a lot to how it got so badly savaged.
* {{Irony}}: The 2005 song [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37y2m3ODJsg 'Gone Going']] is about an artist who used to write meaningful songs, and now produces shallow, meaningless songs about wealth and partying after making it big. Fast forward a few years, and the Black Eyed Peas can be described ''very'' similarly.
* ItsPopularNowItSucks: The group when comparing to before after adding Fergie to the lineup, which is when they switched to a more pop oriented sound and became more commercially successful.
* IAmTheBand: Will I Am's performance at the Silver Jubilee kind of confirmed this!
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: The Peas' manager punching out Perez Hilton. There's also their performance at Super Bowl XLV, where they drop onto the stage ''from the ceiling.''
* {{Mondegreen}}: Many people misheard the chorus of "Imma Be" as "I'm a bee".
** Doesn't help that the [[http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a2/Bep-imma-be.jpg cover of the single]] features a bee.
* {{Narm}}: will.i.am claiming "[he] be rockin' dem BEATZ!!!!1" on ''Boom Boom Pow'', over a repetitive, tepid and rather beat free beat counts.
* NeverLiveItDown: The SuperBowl halftime show performance, widely considered the worst yet. May be a factor in why they went on hiatus...
* OneSceneWonder: In the video for "The Time (Dirty Bit)" there is a very memorable dancer who writhes for about 15 seconds who has the unfortunate tendency to be [[NarmCharm unintentionally hilarious]].
* PainfulRhyme: Their later albums are chock full of verses where [[ListSong every line]] rhymes words that end in either "-tion"/"-sion", "-ing" "-een", "-er", "-ay" or "-o". This leads to excruciating lines on ''The Beginning'', such as "audio and visual, can't see me – invisible" and "this shit's money nigga this shit green / this shit's frightening – Hallowe'en."
* TheProblemWithLicensedGames: ''The Black Eyed Peas Experience'', a pale attempt to capitalize on the JustDance craze.
* SampledUp: "Misirlou" by "Pump It" (DickDale [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTnV_ExKicw is not amused]]), as well as Sexual Harassment's "I Need A Freak" by "My Humps". The latter of the two was the subject of a lawsuit that began even several years before the song's release due to the sample being used without authorization.
* TheScrappy: Fergie. Not just in Black Eyed Peas, but arguably hip hop as a whole.
* SignatureSong: "I Gotta Feeling". For their solo careers, Fergie has "Big Girls Don't Cry" while will.i.am has "Scream & Shout".
* SnarkBait: They're derided as everything wrong with EDM-pop-rap today. Though as they have went on hiatus, Music/{{Pitbull}} seems to have replaced them in this regard.
* SoBadItsGood: "My Humps", at least for the lyrics alone.
** Really, most of their work from ''The E.N.D.'' onward could qualify.
* TearJerker: ''Meet Me Halfway''. It was actually noted by some critics that although she does not have a phenomenal vocal range, the emotion in Fergie's voice makes the vocals quite powerful.
** The beginning of the "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrTyD7rjBpw Just Can't Get Enough]]" video. Made even worse that the video was filmed a week before the earthquake and tsunami.
* UncannyValley: The video for "Boom Boom Pow".
