* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Just as Johnny, Adam, and everyone are getting ready to infiltrate Colonel Chi's island base via surfboarding, Iggy finally admits that he never actually learned how to surf. While Adam does tease him about it a little, pointing out that everyone already knew and thought it was funny, Johnny sincerely tells his friend this: "[[CallBack But what if you could]]? The ability is within you."
* TheProblemWithLicensedGames:
** The UsefulNotes/GameGear game did not garner very good reviews upon release. Among other complaints, the controls were finicky and required a particular double-tap jumping move to clear the platforms.
** A subpar side-scrolling brawler on the Platform/AmigaCD32 was turned into a ''Surf Ninjas'' tie-in for no readily apparent reason, with the protagonist not being redrawn to reflect this. Who even remembers the Johnny of the movie being a white Marines reject who can rip out the hearts of his enemies? Even discounting the fact that it was [[InNameOnly falsely titled]] just as a cash-in, the game itself is terrible. You get hurt by ''jumping''.
* SoBadItsGood: It's hard to say whether or not this was intentional, but the movie definitely doesn't take itself very seriously.
* TheWoobie: Two of Colonel Chi's minions qualify:
** The head of the ninjas sent to find Johnny and Adam in Los Angeles continually gets his ass kicked by Zatch, including almost having his nose ripped off by chopsticks. He also gets knocked out by Johnny's surfboard.
** The dungeon master is a bit clumsy and almost gets Colonel Chi's implants wet, leading to a GroinAttack threat with an electric carving knife. During the FinalBattle, he is thrown down a huge staircase by Johnny, then Ro-May, then by himself because he doesn't want to fight anymore.
