* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: His RageAgainstTheHeavens speech:
-->"Bone cancer in children? Whatís that about?...How dare you? How dare you create a world to which there is such misery that is not our fault. Itís not right, itís utterly, utterly evil. Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid God who creates a world that is so full of injustice and pain?...I wouldn't want to get in (to heaven) on his terms. They are wrong. Now, if I died and it was Pluto, Hades, and if it was the 12 Greek gods then I would have more truck with it, because the Greeks didnít pretend to not be human in their appetites, in their capriciousness, and in their unreasonablenessÖ they didnít present themselves as being all-seeing, all-wise, all-kind, all-beneficent, because the god that created this universe, if it was created by god, is quite clearly a maniacÖ utter maniac, totally selfish. We have to spend our life on our knees thanking him? What kind of god would do that? So, atheism isnít not just about not believing thereís a God, but on the assumption there is one, what kind of God is he?Ē
* InternetBackdraft: 2016 has not been his year. At the BAFTAS Stephen made a casual joke about an award winner's choice of wardrobe that triggered some overly-sensitive people who agitated him to the point where he quit Twitter in a huff (they are actually good friends and she wasn't offended at all). Things snowballed when he made some insensitive comments about how adults who were sexually abused as children need to grow up instead of wallowing in self-pity. Stephen later apologized for the last remark upon being told how his comments made him look like a rape apologist, baring in mind that when he does make controversial remarks, he rarely if ever apologises.
* OneOfUs: Revealed he loved ''StarTrek'' on an episode of ''Series/{{QI}}'', made references to Worf, imitated Captain Picard and talked about Vulcan chess with one of the other guests. He even referred to himself as a Trekkie.
* RetroactiveRecognition: Appeared on an episode of ''Series/UniversityChallenge'' in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA_3LfuwVyw 1980]].
** He also got mugged for an airline ticket by Creator/KevinKline in ''AFishCalledWanda''.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Was nearly born in America, as his father was offered a position at Princeton but turned it down. Considering that Creator/HughLaurie was eventually cast in [[Series/{{House}} a series set in Princeton]], this is...quite interesting.
* TheWoobie: When he speaks about his experiences with bipolar disorder.
