* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Link, does he really think he's Link? Or is he just elaborately role playing? (In season one, the latter is implied, as Link briefly talks about how the B Attack sucks.)
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The series is prone to this.
** Future's cameo in episode 4.
** [=Super64=] is hit on by a female player, but then Lamp hits the female player to reveal a Spambot, [=Super64=] then asks how Lamp knew that. Cue surreal flashback and then [=Super64=] asking what that had to do with his question, with Lamp apparently not knowing he was asked a question.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Lamp.
* FridgeBrilliance: Why didn't Lamp's arrival help Super64 out of his prison in the Season 2 premiere? The narrator said he was a plot device, while it was stated that "not even a poorly written plot device" would save him.
* GrowingTheBeard: Season 1 has a rather stiff script, takes itself a bit too seriously (although not without humor), and lacks a compelling central reason for the journey to start. Season 2 increased the humor, drops most pretenses of seriousness, and has an actual overarching villain the heroes need to defeat.
* HilariousInHindsight: Souped-up Super64 has a rapid fire fireball and Powered up cape. Fast forward to Sm4sh where Mario has custom moves in the form of "Fast Fireball" and "Gust Cape".
* Misaimed Hatedom: Pimpachu is hated for being a "Poser", when he was meant as a parody of that stereotype.
* NightmareFuel: [=PrincessH=]'s tantrums and visceral threats.
** [=Girem6=]'s voice is legitimately freaky too.
* TheScrappy: Pimpachu. Generally due to being an asshole to everyone around him, having an annoying voice, a rather superfluous reason to be in the narrative, and being a "poser" (the last of which is part of the joke). Even in-universe, nobody can stand him, and [=MewZero=] tells him to shut up.
