* BaseBreaker: Flynn & Dina.
* DesignatedVillain:
** Gunther and Tinka come off as this. They are blatant jerks most of the time, especially towards [=CeCe=], which is somewhat justified because [=CeCe=] herself can be quite a selfish jerk herself. On the other hand, they don't really do anything bad, yet they are still treated like the devil simply because of their LackOfEmpathy, even when they try not to act like jerks.
** Logan was also a case of this as well. He had legitimate reasons to hate [=CeCe=], such as for not having any sense of responsibility for her actions, being lazy, and being an all around jerk. When he fires her, [=CeCe=] just smites him afterwards even if he really did nothing to wrong to deserve it. Despite his legitimate reasons to not stand [=CeCe=], it still made him the bad guy in the eyes of others, especially Rocky.
* DudeNotFunny: The anorexia joke in "Party it Up". Just ask DemiLovato (see UnfortunateImplications below)...
* EarWorm: There are over 12 songs associated with this show. One of them ''will'' get stuck in your head. Especially the theme song.
* FanPreferredCouple: Most fanfiction you see about the show will be [=CeCe=]/Rocky, although the [[FoeYay [=CeCe=]/Gunther]] pairing is also relatively popular.
** Ever since it was teased in Season 1, the Tinka/Ty pairing gained a lot of popularity to the point where the showrunners [[AscendedFanon made it canon]], albeit in the form of their future versions only.
* FoeYay: Gunther and Tinka to Rocky and [=CeCe=].
* GrowingTheBeard: The second half of Season 2 onward.
* HilariousInHindsight: Cat Deeley's use of SoYouThinkYouCanDance becomes a lot funnier when Zendaya got on DancingWithTheStars without complete confirmation that she can dance.
* HoYay:
** In "Add It Up", Gunther arm wrestles Deuce down to his underwear ''and beyond''. Fortunately, they thumb-wrestled and Deuce won his underwear back.
** And this comment by Flynn about Henry:
-->"We've shared hair gel; he's mine now."
** Gunther and Ty.
*** There was a whole episode dedicated to the relationship they develop while Ty teaches Gunther to be cool, which ended in Ty getting upset when Gunther wouldn't go get pizza with him and then, ultimately, walking off with their arms around each other.
*** In one episode, they are dared to wear each other's clothes, and Gunther looks extremely happy, even though he's commented that he thinks Ty's dress sense is 'drab'. He then leads Ty off-screen by his tie. Afterwards he keeps touching Ty's waist as they sit around the campfire. It should be noted that he chooses to sit next to Ty and not Tinka, which may be the first time.
*** It is implied they spend a lot of time with each other off-screen, as evidenced by a few scenes, such as the beginning of Ty's ping pong war with Tinka.
** "Shrink It Up" marks the first time Gunther solely and directly addresses a male character as "baybee", that male being Deuce.
** Deuce and Ty in "Reunion It Up".
-->'''Ty:''' A little more bro and a little less mance.
*** And in just about a bunch of other episodes. One episode had them both [[MakesSenseInContext hold a phone between their hands]] so they could win it. Deuce had an embarrassing itch on his back, so Ty had to try and scratch it for him... Suffice to say, it was rather awkward, but laced with total bromance.
* LesYay: Rocky and [=CeCe=], at least OnceAnEpisode.
** "Break It Up" is a particularly noticeable example - the pair have a heart-to-heart about how they'll never leave each other while lying in bed together wrapped in each other's arms. This conversation opens with [=CeCe=] commenting that Rocky's hospital gown does not cover her butt and ends with them moving their faces together and [=CeCe=] wrapping her leg around Rocky. Yikes.
** "Egg It Up" is also pretty heavy on the LesYay. The scene where [=CeCe=] finds out Rocky's been working with another smart girl to come up with a project comes across as if Rocky's been cheating on [=CeCe=] in another way.
** A ''[[UnderStatement huge]]'' amount of LesYay in "Embarrass It Up" over Danika. It's moved way beyond subtext at this point.
** The vast, ''vast'' majority of Shipping FanFiction is [=CeCe=]/Rocky slash. It's not helped that both Zendaya and Bella share more than a few Les Yay moments in RealLife, leading to the "[[FanNickname creation]]" of "[[http://shakeitup.wikia.com/wiki/Zendella Zendella]]".
* JustHereForGodzilla: As with the vast majority of Creator/DisneyChannel {{KidCom}}s, many boys are only here to see Bella Thorne and Zendaya.
* MoralEventHorizon: During [=CeCe=]'s interactions with Logan. [[spoiler:She crosses this by being a jerk to Logan after he fired her for not playing by the rules. To top it all off, she sabotaged his date with Rocky. These actions proved to be so unforgivable that Logan can't stand being around [=CeCe=] anymore.]]
* TheScrappy: Klaus. [=CeCe=] whenever Logan is around
** Flynn
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: A reasonable facsimile of "Bad to the Bone" plays as Rocky enters detention clad in her new "bad girl" outfit.
* TheyJustDidntCare: Possibly the only explanation as to how a '''''FAMILY''''' show on the '''''DISNEY''''' Channel was able to get away with a joke about eating disorders, which later made Demi Lovato speak out against it (see below).
* UnfortunateImplications: The brief depiction of anorexia in the episode "Party It Up". See GettingCrapPastTheRadar.
** Apparently DemiLovato felt the same way and complained about it; Disney Channel [[http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/demi-lovato-slams-disney-on-twitter-for-eating-disorder-joke-20112412 pulled the episode]] then put it back into rotation with the offending scene edited.
** The sheer amount of xenophobia and sexism in the My Fair Lady plot with Gunther.
** In general, Gunter and Tinka being mocked for being foreign is in general is xenophobic.
* VillainSue: Candy (stinkin') Cho in "Show It Up", PlayedForLaughs.
