* CompleteMonster (includes ''[[ExpansionPack Wanton Destruction]]''): [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Master Zilla]], the President of [[MegaCorp Zilla Enterprises]], summons [[TheManBehindTheMonsters an army of monsters]] in the hopes of becoming even more powerful and wealthy than he already is, alienating his loyal bodyguard, Lo Wang. As a result of Zilla's actions, the setting [[CrapsackWorld has become overrun with monsters]], with corpses and incapacitated victims strewn across the streets. When Lo Wang resigns from his position, Zilla [[ResignationsNotAccepted retaliates by sending monsters after Lo Wang]]. Additionally crashing an airliner and killing everyone on board, and keeping prisoners to torture, after a confrontation with Lo Wang, Zilla escapes before resurfacing in San Francisco. Attempting to pillage San Francisco with an army of ninjas, Zilla is finally neutralized on top of a skyscraper in a final confrontation.
* CrossesTheLineTwice: The game gleefully throws itself into its pisstake of bad kung-fu movie cliches with wild abandon, being as outrageously over-the-top and offensive and getting everything as deliberately ''wrong'' as possible (Lo Wang is a {{Ninja}} with a Chinese name who wields a Katana and [[StockNinjaWeaponry shuriken]] just for ''starters'') in order to [[PlayedForLaughs play it all for maximum giggles]].
* DemonicSpiders:
** Coolies, they are common, slightly resistant and fast, and their only attack is getting near you and [[ActionBomb exploding for heavy damage]]. That's not enough because once they die (assuming you don't use explosive weapons on them to gib them) they return as annoying flying ghosts.
** Rippers. They take 5-6 full shots from the riot gun to down, they're incredibly fast, come in packs, and deal tons of damage to you if given the chance.
** The big brown Rippers even more so, who are borderline BossInMooksClothing. They take 5-6 rockets or rail gun shots to kill, and do massive damage in melee.
** While the basic brown ninjas are normally somewhat troublesome in groups, the red ninjas have a tendency to launch rockets at you. Orange ones have the heat-seeking rockets. Gray ones can use grenades, which can pack a nasty punch. And the Shadow Ninja, in addition to being difficult to see, along with being very fast, has a firewall attack and a napalm attack, both of which are VERY deadly to be on the receiving end of.
* GoddamnedBats: The hornets. They're small, very fast, and can come in a small fleet. Of course, with 1 HP, they are easy to kill. Good luck trying to hit them.
* HilariousInHindsight: The ending of the shareware episode ''Enter The Wang'' with the boss fleeing mid-flight would nowadays bring in mind a ''certain'' other series.
--> '''Lo Wang''': HEY! Come back here and [[VideoGame/Halo2 finish]] [[VideoGame/Halo3 fight!]]
* MoralEventHorizon: In level 13 "Unfriendly Skies", you find Zilla has [[HarsherInHindsight made a jet airliner crash, presumably killing everyone aboard]]. Even worse, it's never explained why he would do this, suggesting it was just ForTheEvulz.
* SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound:
** Launching the [[NukeEm nuclear weapon]].
-->''WARNING.''
** Alternatively, the ticking noises made by the Heat-Seeking card, which sounds similar to ''VideoGame/{{Ketsui}}'''s lock-on tick.
** The Riot Gun's shots are music to the ears, especially for [[ShotgunsAreJustBetter shotgun fans]].
*** ''BAM-BAM-BAM-BAM!''
** Gas bombs are an excellent choice for clearing out a room full of enemies or at least softening them up enough to finish the job with Uzis, Riot Gun and Shurikens. Tossing a well placed cannister into a room and hearing the leaking sound of the gas escaping combined with your enemies groans, is satisfying indeed.
* NightmareFuel:
** In some levels you will find people (implied to be victims of Zilla's monsters) just sitting there with their ''entrails hanging out'', yet somehow still alive. Fortunately, you can [[MercyKill put them down.]]
** The Coolie Mines from the original game, a dimly lit mine where coolies rip you apart at every turn. It's even worse in the redux with the enhanced music.
** The track [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9Lv07vmL5U&list=PLGjdzpLVy7LIQP4dkRFQVhEEH0dvyLB9W&index=8 Landwaster]]. Despite having a PunnyName it is ''very'' foreboding, and, appropriately enough, only appears in boss levels (although there is also a boss theme which plays when you engage the actual boss.)
* SpiritualSuccessor: To ''Videogame/DukeNukem3D'': they have [[Creator/ThreeDRealms the same developer]], [[FirstPersonShooter the same gameplay]], and both rely heavily on heavy combat and crude humour.
* ScrappyWeapon: The "sticky bombs" (basically proximity mines with spikes so they can stick to walls,) as their throwing range is only a little bigger than their detection radius, making it very easy to [[HoistByHisOwnPetard kill yourself with them by mistake.]]
** The Shuriken. Ostensibly meant to be the games version of the standard pistol in games like VideoGame/DukeNukem3D and VideoGame/{{Doom}}, it fails in this regard by being remarkably inaccurate and underpowered. It also doesn't help that the game starts you off with an ammo count of only 30. Funnily enough the game seems to understand that players wouldn't gravitate towards them. Although you start every level with the Shuriken in stock, Lo Wang will always be [[KatanasAreJustBetter equipped with his sword.]]
* ValuesDissonance: What would've passed for harmless goofing on Asian culture in 1997 can come off as cringeworthy nowadays. The amount of Asian stereotyping in this game is enough to make someone's head spin. (In fact, the word "coolie" is considered an offensive term, and refers to a low-wage laborer, usually of Chinese or Indian descent.) Though it is admittedly PlayedForLaughs, it's not hard to see why someone would be a little turned off by it all, nor is it hard to see why [[VideoGame/ShadowWarrior2013 the remake]] takes itself seriously with careful detail to avoid stereotyping.
** Lo Wang might also occasionally drop two very homophobic comments when watching the rabbits mate, including dropping the [[QueerPeopleAreFunny F-bomb.]]
** There's also Lo Wang's DirtyOldMan characterisation, which in contrast to VideoGame/DukeNukem who, despite his chauvinistic personality, hates seeing women abused and tips any sex worker he interacts with generously, Lo Wang lacks any of that basic respect and instead just sexually harasses anime girls who clearly want nothing to do with him, going as far to [[PrisonRape say to a bathing woman that he dropped a bar of soap and ask her to bend over to pick it up for him]]. This is however not condoned, as many of these girls will frequently pull out a firearm and shoot you if you pester them enough.
