!![[ComicBook/ScottPilgrim The Comic Books]]
* AccidentalInnuendo: Many people have noticed [[http://www.daemonsbooks.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/scott_pilgrim_finest_hour-550x818.jpg Scott Pilgrim's testicles]]. Made funnier because, as the [[http://www.majorspoilers.com Major Spoilers]] review of Volume 6 pointed out, "Scott Pilgrim Grows a Pair" would be a pretty fitting alternate title... It's actually possible that this innuendo was not accidental at all.
* AntiClimaxBoss: Lucas Lee. Scott asks Lucas to show off his skateboarding skills. Lucas wipes out and hits the curb. Scott wins by default.
** Scott even comments afterwards, "That was the worst fight ever!" - though it's mainly because he couldn't pick up the Mithril Skateboard Lucas leaves behind.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: The League of Ramona's Evil-Exes could be just a group therapy comprising emotionally destroyed people who loved Ramona Flowers. She broke all their hearts in the worst ways possible, and she didn't care how messed up they became. Gideon could be half evil and half broken; the rest just want to keep Ramona from doing it all over again and are messed up in thinking that beating her new potential love interests (Scott, for example) will break the cycle.
** On the other hand, it's difficult to actually push this for Gideon; He's depicted as a clingy psycho-stalker who keeps the women he can't have sedated and in stasis. Todd is also a cheater several times over, and is completely unapologetic about the damage this does to Envy. Patel also didn't even have that much of a relationship with her, as pointed out by Ramona. Really, the only one we get to see being left by Ramona is Gideon, and his reaction is utterly pathetic and his intentions are entirely controlling; He isn't half-anything, as his declaration to Scott that they can 'rule Ramona's love-life' lays bare.
** Done on purpose for [[Film/ScottPilgrimVsTheWorld the film adaptation]], where if it was about Stephan and his band trying to make it big but Scott accidentally screws up by being strung on Ramona and they only get successful without him, just like his own ex-girlfriend.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Not that we can hear the music, but come on, the fight with the first ex culminating in a song battle is pretty damn awesome.
** Dare we mention "Invaders Must Die" by The Prodigy in the movie's trailer?
** In Volume 6, [[spoiler:the song Envy sings, and the lousy cover of "I'm a Believer" by Shatterband]] are very awesome moments.
* BaseBreaker / DieForOurShip: Ramona has ended up becoming this in retrospect, due to sects of the fans preferring Scott to end up with Knives or Kim.
** This can mostly be tied to the movie where Knives is shown to be a much more compatible girlfriend for Scott and even ended up with him in the original ending.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The Gilded Palace of Flying Burritos.
** Subverted kinda, Ramona asks about Scott's previous job in the first volume, and he says it's a long story so she responds with "we'll save it for another volume".
** Comeau showing off his cool new ring.
-->'''Comeau:''' "Hey, Scotty. Check out [[ArtifactOfDoom my ring]]!"\\
'''Comeau's Ring:''' "Ssssscotttt..."
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Quite a few....
** Wallace has quite the fan following and even a couple of Facebook clubs.
** If the IMDB message board is any indication, Joseph is one too. O'Malley really knows hows to write gay characters apparently.
** Kim Pine is also pretty popular, even having her own one-shot comic strip, the Wonderful World of Kim Pine, read it [[http://scottpilgrim.com/inside.php?id=previews here]]
** Scott's sister, likely due to her expanded role in the movie and the actress who played her.
** Quite a few people prefer Knives over Ramona (doesn't help that she becomes more of an IronWoobie in the movie)
** Lucas Lee seems to be this amongst the evil exes.
* FanPreferredCouple: Scott/Kim and Scott/Knives.
** Neil/Stacey is getting a lot of love too.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: In the fourth volume, Lisa mentions living off of credit cards and derides herself for doing so. Not long after the volume was released, the real-life credit crunch of '08 hit.
** A rather meta example: You know that cool shirt Edgar Wright is wearing in the fourth trailer? After the release of Volume 6, turns out that's an official Chaos Theater shirt.
** After reading Volume 6 and finding out at the end that [[spoiler:Stephen Stills is gay]], going back and reading Volume 5 has a moment like this when Young Neil [[spoiler:refers to Stephen Stills as "Captain Homo"]], and it hits you that there was a whole other layer to Neil's face-punchingly dickish comment.
* HollywoodPudgy: Roxie.
** Though never emphasized by anyone (besides a very biased Knives), Ramona is noticably more "fuller" than the rest of the women Scott has dated throughout the series, especially apparent when she's in her underwear.
* HoYay: Courtesy of Wallace Wells.
** Some female examples:
*** [[spoiler:Kim & Knives in Volume 4. Granted, they're drunk.]]
*** There's also Knives' fangirlism bordering-on-a-crush of Envy Adams.
*** Ramona constantly thinks about Kim in the comic, often responding with, "I like Kim".
*** And, of course, there's Ramona and Roxy. [[FriendlyEnemy Even AFTER they break up in the comics.]]
* JerkassWoobie: Ramona, and all of her Evil Exes except for Gideon.
** Also, Envy Adams, especially in Volume 6 after she reveals [[spoiler:that her and Scott's break-up was a mutual occurrence and Scott simply white-washed his role in it out of the flashbacks seen by the reader in Volume 3]].
* MemeticMutation:
** The classic description "[[BerserkButton TWILIGHT]] [[FlameBait FOR BOYS]]".
** You'd be hard pressed to not find fanart of Knives with a [[ScarfOfAsskicking scarf]], [[MulticoloredHair highlights]], and {{sai|Guy}}.
** Also replacing the word "love" with "lesbian" in reference to Scott whenever he's asked about "the L-word". This whole thing started after [[spoiler:he discovered Kim and Knives were making out drunk]].
-->'''Wallace''': "Have you said the L-word yet?"\\
'''Scott''': "The L-word?"\\
'''Scott''': "You mean... ''lesbian''?"\\
'''Wallace''': "Uh... No. The other L-word."\\
'''Scott''': "[[ComicallyMissingThePoint Lesbians?]]"
** Scott Pilgrim, [[MemeticMolester Sketchy-ass 24-year old.]]
* NightmareFuel: Early into Volume 6, Scott was having another one of his bizarre dreams; this time he's all alone in the desert. He looks looks up to the sky to see an [[LightIsNotGood angelic]] Ramona Flowers swooping down and impales Scott [[spoiler:with The Power of Love sword]], pinning him to the ground and flies away. Then sky suddenly became dark and three monsterous figures appears out of nowhere and proceed to eat his limbs, with Scott [[ThisIsGonnaSuck being completely helpless]] to watch in horror as he suffers being eaten alive. After the monsters ate his arms and legs, he got a good glimspe of the monsters: [[spoiler:it turns out the monsters were Envy, Knives, and Kim, each with razor-sharp teeth and a [[SlasherSmile psychotic]] [[CheshireCatGrin grin]] (Knives might stick out to some with her [[{{Creepypasta}} smile.jpg]]-esque grin).]]
* OneSceneWonder: Matthew Patel and Micheal Comeau.
** Lucas Lee actually has even ''less'' pages dedicated to his [[AntiClimaxBoss "fight"]] (and sole appearance in person) than Patel. His only appearance prior to his fight is a single panel while Scott is watching one of his movies.
* ParanoiaFuel: Subspace. People can get in your head and see your dreams. That's enough of a privacy nightmare when your girlfriend doing it, and worse still [[spoiler:your nemesis can spy on you and mess with your memories]]. Or, from Ramona's perspective (which is never really explicitly addressed), [[spoiler:a LivingDollCollector ex who is stalking and trying to kill your boyfriend so he can have you all to himself. And is implied to have done the ''exact same thing'' to others. ''Creepy''.]]
* UnfortunateImplications: Lesbian/bisexual characters are handled as [[GirlOnGirlIsHot eye candy]] by the protagonist himself and it plays AllGaysArePromiscuous completely straight. And that's all there is to be said on the matter.
** Granted, [[spoiler: this treatment seems to wholly vanish after Scott's CharacterDevelopment, where he ceases to be a total self-absorbed ManChild, so it may be UnreliableNarrator at work, as with most of what we see through Scott's eyes. Then again, there's very little time left in the story when Stephen Stills is revealed as gay as is.]]
* TheWoobie: Knives, before and after her {{Yandere}} phase (hell, probably even during it).

!![[VideoGame/ScottPilgrim The Video Game]]
* EightPointEight: The game was given a 6.5 by Gamespot and a 50% by [=GamesMaster=] magazine, whereas other reviews of the game have given it 7s and 8s.
* AdaptationDistillation: Don't like the MoodWhiplash or mixed messages of the comic? Don't like the uneven feel of the movie? Here, have a BeatEmUp without any of the baggage of either!
* AntiClimaxBoss: The Katanayagi Twins have a distressing tendency to run straight into your attacks. Together. And if you brought a weapon with you, the fight will end even faster.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: As mentioned before. '''Music/{{Anamanaguchi}}''' did the music. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RmrMOEo1VI See how awesome it is yourself.]] And if that wowed you, you can always buy the original soundtrack!
** EarWorm
* BreatherBoss: Aside of his special attack [[spoiler:with missiles, [[HumongousMecha Super Robot Fighter]]]] is really weak.
* EndingFatigue: Level 7. You ride an elevator down into the Chaos Theater and fight Gideon, then endure [[ThatOneLevel a very short but extremely annoying subspace stage]], then fight Gideon again [[spoiler:in his huge OneWingedAngel form]], then run through a robot-themed stage, then fight Gideon ''again'', [[spoiler:then it turns out that Gideon was [[ActuallyADoombot a robot]] and you have to punch the real one once to beat him]], and ''then'' you're finished.
* GameBreaker: Several to potentially {{nerf}} the game's NintendoHard difficulty.
** Wallace's Mystery Shop; buying the [[VideoGame/BionicCommando Bionic Arm]] (which really, should just take 2-3 runs through the first stage) drastically reduces the difficulty of the game; let alone the other items sold there.
*** The strength book available at the bookstore actually provides slightly better value, and each book is about 1/5 the price of the Bionic Arm, so you can increase your strength more gradually.
** If you pay off the late fee at the video store in the first level, you can buy extra lives for only $4.95.
*** Along with raising all your stats by 10 for only $4.95 a pop. You {{cap}} at 100.
*** After maxing-out your stats, why not blow $4.95 for '''1,500 XP''' to sky-rocket your characters to Lv. 16?
** There's also the code that lets you use the [[spoiler:Power of Love sword]] outside of the final stage, which helps because of the range it gives.
** The "suicide for 25 $2 coins" code can be exploited with any [[AutoRevive snack]] (Chewing Gum in the first level is very cheap) to gain instant cash. It's even funnier considering the suicide code is a shout out to the KonamiCode.
*** A more strenuous alternative involving the use of an external memory storage device, a "dummy" Xbox 360 or [=PlayStation=] 3 profile, and SaveScumming can allow those to double their cash.
* GoddamnedBats: Particularly in the Twins' stages. Also the swooping birds in Level 6. On a less literal level, there's the paparazzi enemies in Lucas' stage, who don't do much damage but can and will repeatedly stun you with their camera flashes, and the domino-masked "thief" foes in Roxy's stage, who like to bodycheck you and steal your coins. And they're fast, so can do it multiple times.
** [[spoiler:And the [[Franchise/{{Castlevania}} Medusa Heads]] in "Subspace Highway?" (right before Gigadeon).]]
* HoYay: We see Wallace making out with Jimmy in the background of the first boss battle.
** [[PairTheSpares Kim Pine and Knives]]. Heck, with Kim's Assist, she summons Knives and gives her a kiss to [[IntimateHealing gain health]]. Complete with FootPopping and tongue! [[spoiler:She also chooses Knives over Scott in her specific ending and they [[RidingIntoTheSunset walk off into the sunset]]. In the ending montage everyone gets, they're also kissing.]]
* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: The Wallace [=DLC=] pack. Besides the online multi-player fans of the game were begging for, Wallace is nothing more than a [[HeadSwap re-skinned]] Stephen with rainbow effects. It's disappointing considering Ubisoft could've made Wallace a unique fighter, but they cheaped out in the end. It doesn't help that the DLC is also $5 considering what you're paying for.
* {{Narm}}: Go fight some paparazzi in the second stage with the [[VideoGame/MortalKombat blood code]] activated. You'll see...
* TheProblemWithLicensedGames: [[SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames Averted]], save for no online play or drop in and out co-op (unless you have $7 extra dollars to buy the {{D|ownloadableContent}}LCs). The game's very good, and it also helps that it's only $10.
* SpiritualLicensee: There are some that call this game [[FanNickname another name]], RiverCityRansom 2
* ThatOneBoss: While a lot of them have the potential to be that one boss, [[spoiler:Nega-Scott]] is generally regarded to be the most difficult of them all. Unless you ''really'' know what you're doing, tackling him alone is begging for an ass whooping.
** Knives's father can be spotted walking the world map for [[BonusBoss an optional boss fight]]. He is [[LightningBruiser very powerful]].
* TheyJustDidntCare: The ''Wallace Wells DLC'' by means of PerpetualBeta. Not only was it pushed back incessantly for months and months, but [[WordOfGod Bryan Lee O'Malley]] even made (later removed) disapproving comments about the DLC.
** ObviousBeta: When finally released, people soon noticed EnsembleDarkhorse Wallace Wells [[AndYourRewardIsClothes is just Stephen Stills save for a different head and two new special moves]]. Granted, a great deal of focus was on releasing online play, but Wallace doesn't even get his own ending -- winning as him earns you [[AWinnerIsYou a picture of Wallace sitting in a chair.]] '''''The winning picture is even the exact picture they used in the DLC trailers.'''''
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: Actually, the game is great family fun, although the game warrents a Teen / 12+ rating for a reason or so.
** The way (almost) [[{{Gainaxing}} every girls' chest wobbles]] with every movement they make ([[FanDisservice including]] zombie-girl Lucy) may raise some eyebrows.
** There's also Todd Ingram giving Scott (and the other characters) [[FlippingTheBird the finger]], some people may object to Kim and Knives kissing, and [[BodyHorror Todd's]] [[Manga/{{Akira}} Tetsuo]]-esque attack [[spoiler:and Gigadeon]] may scare some younger players.
** Let's not forget that [[NightOfTheLivingMooks zombies]] are all around the later half of Level 6 and the unlockable Survival Horror mode.
