* FridgeLogic: The crew get their final medical check ''and'' hold a press conference only minutes before liftoff. Reporters accept the news that they can only print what's in the official handout without a murmur; a doubtful prospect even in TheFifties.
* PropRecycling: The control cabin set was reused for ''Flight to Mars''.
* StockFootageFailure: Footage of a V-2 rocket that looks nothing like the titular rocket was used for the launch sequence.
* ValuesDissonance: There's plenty of 50's sexist behaviour towards Dr. Van Horn -- pilot Floyd Graham does the "[[WhatsAnXLikeYouDoingInAYLikeThis What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?]]" routine, and thinks it's enough for a woman to StayInTheKitchen. When Van Horn's fuel calculations differ from Dr. Eckstrom's the latter overrules her and, when she gets upset over this arbitrary decision which could get them all killed, forgives her for "momentarily being a woman". [[FairForItsDay However, the film subverts this]] by having Van Horn turn out to be right after all -- compare this with the patronising view of female astronauts in ''Film/ProjectMoonbase'' (1950) and ''Flight to Mars'' (1951).
