!!''Film/ReeferMadness'' provides examples of:

* {{Anvilicious}}
* CriticalResearchFailure: Though the gross egregiousness of it is much more hilariously noticeable now that marijuana use is much more widespread and its effects a great deal more common knowledge than when the film came out, anyone with half a functioning brain should have known by the manipulativeness and slanted angle of the film how trustworthy it was even then.
** Even then, the truth was the final product was simply using DrugsAreBad as an excuse to show behavior that wouldn't otherwise pass UsefulNotes/TheHaysCode.
** The movie goes so far as to claim that marijuana is more dangerous than heroin.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: The weird piano player from the soda shop. He's even the title image for the ''Podcast/RiffTrax'' stream of the movie on {{Hulu}}.
* FridgeLogic[=/=]PlotHole: Related to KarmaHoudini on the main page. The entire film is told in flashback by the principal... but how did he know about Jimmy running the old man over if he was never charged?
** Also the drug dealers don't actually "deal". Nobody seems to purchase the stuff. Do they just give it away?
*** Well, obviously they get their clients high and then send them to their soda shop, where they spend lots of money on food and drink.
* MisaimedFandom: A movie made in all seriousness to prevent marijuana use is now a pothead cult classic.
* {{Narm}}/NarmCharm: The Romeo and Juliet scene was the worst for this troper. It was just painful to watch.
** It doesn't help that they seem to be [[StarCrossedLovers royally missing the point]]
* PeripheryDemographic: Stoners LOVE this movie.
* SoBadItsGood: In the 70's, college kids would enjoy smoking "marihuana" and watching the film whenever it came on TV. [[HilarityEnsues They found it to be a blast.]]
** Even sober, it's hilarious as long as you watch it as a comedy.
* SpecialEffectFailure: Near the end of the movie, [[spoiler:Blanche]] commits suicide by jumping out a window. It's obviously a dummy that falls.

!!The Musical (and the movie based on it) contain examples of:

* {{Anvilicious}}: The movie's message for freedom of speech is, somehow, just as bad as the original movie's anti-drug message.
* CargoShip: Jimmy with a pot brownie in the movie's Brownie Song sequence.
* CrossTheLineTwice: Every scene seems to find a new line to cross. You'd think the zenith of its audacity would be when Jesus shows up to tell the main character to stop smoking pot. It isn't.
* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: If you're into theater, you know that the note hit by May during The Stuff (on the lyric ''when Jack gets stoned and RAPES ME!'') is incredibly hard to hit well. It's known colloquially backstage as the [[BlackComedyRape Rape Note]] and is the main barrier for casting May.
* EarWorm: People may find themselves humming "Listen to Jesus, Jimmy" months after seeing it.
