!! UK version:
* AcceptableProfessionalTargets: Vince's boyfriend Cameron comes in for a lot of stick for being an accountant.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: While nobody would dispute his {{Jerkass}} tendencies, it's still sort of surprising how little flack Stuart gets for hooking up with a minor half his age and continuing to do so even after discovering Nathan's age. His claims on not being a pervert seem a bit hollow.
* HilariousInHindsight: The ''Series/DoctorWho'' references have become ironic given that Creator/RussellTDavies became the first showrunner of the revived series.
* JerkassWoobie: Stuart, both in-universe and among viewers. In the series people admit that he's a jerk while showing that they care about him, constantly trying to make him accept that he has some serious issues which urgently need addressing.

!! US version:
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Is Brian a bad boyfriend to Justin, or is Justin Brian's stalker, not respecting his boundaries and feeling entitled to everything Brian can give?
* CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming: When Brian [[spoiler: sells his loft and buys a beautiful country manor for Justin during his (second) attempt to propose]]. After watching Justin chase after Brian for years, if this doesn't melt your heart then nothing will.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: When Ted temporarily becomes "addicted" to porn, Emmett admonishes him that, "You're not sucking me into your black hole of depravity." When Emmett tells the others that they need to stage an intervention, Brian sarcastically guesses that Ted is addicted to crystal meth. In a later season, Ted really does become addicted to crystal meth, and tragically self-destructs while coming very close to dragging Emmett down with him. What is especially funny-turned-cringeworthy is Brian's comment that Ted is a schmuck who couldn't even get a decent addiction.
* HollywoodHomely: Ted, who has trouble getting laid despite looking like [[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0523116/resumephotos this]]. Lampshaded in the episode where he goes to Lindsey's sister's wedding and women start eying him. It seems that only he's only unattractive by ''gay men's'' standards.
** An interview with the actor actually addressed this and he stated that Ted's problem is that he only pursues the hottest of the hot, which he is not. If he'd have reasonable standards he'd be pretty popular.
* InformedWrongness: Brian rejects Justin as gently as possible, lets him stay in his flat when he has nowhere to go, which Justin pays back by deliberately crossing his clearly drawn boundaries. In general, Brian politely and patiently puts up with Justin's stalking but he is treated as a {{Jerkass}} for daring to point out that they are not a couple. And Justin eventually gets rewarded with Brian's devotion. Not to mention Justin's cruel BreakingSpeech to the guy who was in the same situation with him as he was with Brian after their hookup, which makes Brian look like a perfect gentleman in comparison, making it doubtful Justin is an innocent LoveMartyr who deserves better than Brian.
* {{Narm}}: Justin in the first season, at least earlier on. ''QAF'' was Randy Harrison's TV Debut, and his overaffected manner of speech would work alright on stage, but on camera it was often difficult to take him seriously.)
* RetroactiveRecognition: [[Series/BurnNotice Madeline Westen]] as Debbie Novotny.
** Oh, look, it's [[Series/LabRats Donald Davenport]]!
* StrangledByTheRedString: Emmett and Brent.
* UnfortunateImplications: See MonochromeCasting: It's egregious considering that the show was meant to be a [[https://queerrace.wordpress.com/2010/05/04/look-over-here-queer-as-folk/ groundbreaking portrayal of an often marginalized, underrepresented group]] of people and [[http://filmcommune.blogspot.com/2006/12/queer-as-folk-double-edged-sword-of.html preached a strong message of tolerance.]]
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotSymbolic: Brian and another man examining the cucumbers in the grocery store, for a long, loong time...
* TheWoobie: Ted Schmidt. From the very beginning of the series, he is shown to have very poor self-esteem. In episode 3, he fell into a drug-induced coma. He later got fired from his job in season 2. He lost his next job, almost went to prison, and got addicted to crystal meth in season 3. He hit rock bottom when he saw a video of himself getting gangbanged while he was out of it. This isn't even mentioning all the horrible experiences he had with trying to find a partner! The actor has even said that he fell into a depression while playing this character! Fortunately, things started going better for him in the end. I don't know how much more hardship I could stand to see the poor guy go through!
** And don't forget poor Justin.
