* AudienceAwarenessAdvantage: In ''Wolfsbane'', not only are the audience the only ones aware that the Fourth and Eighth Doctors are the same person due to the Eighth's current state of amnesia, but only the reader is presented with the necessary subtle clues that the Fourth Doctor's TARDIS was drawn to 1936 by the Eighth Doctor's currently-crippled ship.
* FanonDiscontinuity: Not to quite the same extent as the Literature/EighthDoctorAdventures, but many fans refuse to accept the books in this series as being in continuity with the rest of the franchise. At the very least, it's widely accepted that in instances where this series and the Creator/BigFinish [[AudioPlay/BigFinishDoctorWho audio stories]] are in conflict -- most notably with the events that lead up to the Sixth Doctor's regeneration -- the events of the Big Finish stories are always to be considered canonical over the ones depicted in these books.
* GeniusBonus: In ''Dreams of Empire'': Kesar's name is rendered as to evoke how the Romans would have pronounced [[UsefulNotes/JuliusCaesar Caesar]]'s name.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** The beginning of ''Verdigris'', which recounts how Iris swept Tom up from modern day London and showed him the wonders of the universe; but he remains really bored and wants to go home. This is even funnier when you have the first two seasons of the new series to compare it to.
** For a given value of ‘Hilarious’, but when ''Empire of Death'' and ''Imperial Moon'' saw the Fifth Doctor actively discourage Queen Victoria from pursuing the strange and unusual, it is tempting to consider that this unintentionally inspired her hostility towards the Tenth Doctor and her decision to establish Torchwood following the events of “[[Recap/DoctorWhoS28E2ToothAndClaw Tooth and Claw]]”.
** In ''Harvest of Time'', there's a brief appearance of a few future incarnations of the Master, including one who's clearly Creator/JohnSimm and another who more or less seems to be Creator/MichelleGomez... the funny thing is, the book came out a few ''years'' before Michelle Gomez' first appearance.
** ''The Shadow in the Glass'' has the Sixth Doctor running a DNA test on the remains of Hitler and Eva Braun, determining that Eva’s remains weren't actually hers. In 2009, they discovered that HITLER’S remains weren’t actually his.
** In ''Prime Time'', the Seventh Doctor possibly jokingly states that he could be [[Creator/JodieWhittaker a girl one day]].
* OlderThanTheyThink:
** ''Millennium Shock'' features aliens disguised as humans in Downing Street, leading to a change in Prime Minister years before "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS27E4AliensOfLondon Aliens of London]][=/=][[Recap/DoctorWhoS27E5WorldWarThree World War Three]]".
** ''Mission: Impractical'' sees the Sixth Doctor carrying out a heist over two decades before the Twelfth Doctor did in "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS34E5TimeHeist Time Heist]]".
* StrangledByTheRedString: Tegan falls for PC Andy Weathers in ''Deep Blue'' incredibly quickly, even daydreaming about spending her life with him after only a day. Played with, however, in that her fantasies focus less on their being a couple and more about Andy being a potential way back into a normal life for Tegan; the novel is set during her final season on TV, and she is clearly starting to tire of all the death and danger that comes with her TARDIS travels, foreshadowing her eventual departure in "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS21E4ResurrectionOfTheDaleks Resurrection of the Daleks]]".
