* AnnoyingVideoGameHelper: Boxy Boy's tutorials in ''[=PaRappa 2=]'', which interrupt cutscenes. They can be skipped with the start button, but it's never mentioned anywhere.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: [[AwesomeMusic/PaRappaTheRapper Has its own page]].
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Level 7 of ''[=PaRappa 2=]'' has DJPJ's booth crashing through the wall and causing a power surge. The level then continues as if nothing happened.
* CriticalDissonance: The games received mostly average reviews from critics, but fan response is much more positive.
* EarWorm: Pretty much any song in this game series. "Kick, punch, it's all in the mind!"
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Chop Chop Master Onion, the one teacher who's in every game.
** Lammy mainly for her {{Moe}} tendencies listed below.
** Hairdresser Octopus ([[DubNameChange Takoyama-san]] in Japan), particularly for his [[BrainwashedAndCrazy (temporary)]] [[LargeHam hilariously]] [[AlwaysCamp flamboyant]] and {{Keet}} [[SplitPersonality alter-ego]] and [[NonStandardCharacterDesign weird design even for PaRappa standards.]] Oh and as a plus, [[EarWorm how darn catchy his song "Hair Scare" is.]]
* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop: According to Prince Fleaswallow, "Money money money is all you need."
* FanPreferredCouple:
** [=PaRappa=] and Lammy, despite the fact that both [=PaRappa=] games focused on [=PaRappa=]'s love of Sunny. Some fans {{lampshade|Hanging}} this by showing that Sunny is [[LoveTriangle not amused]].
** And it doesn't help that at ''[=PaRappa=] 2'''s final stage, [=PaRappa=] is singing to Lammy, who's playing with him on stage, while Sunny is just watching from the audience with her father.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: [[http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=781553 It seems [=PaRappa=] took Prince Fleaswallow's lesson to heart.]]
* SugarWiki/{{Funny Moment|s}}: The ''whole series'' basically, mainly because it swims in SurrealHumor.
* ItsEasySoItSucks: While the first game had some [[NintendoHard very unforgiving]] levels, the sequel is generally seen as swinging the difficulty too far to the other side due to the game making it actually harder to screw up or fail and getting a Cool rank is much easier.
* MemeticMutation: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGlCGMm8Qag "Chinese"]], a video of ''[=PaRappa 2=]'''s multiplayer mode, has seen some exposure.
* {{Moe}}: [=PaRappa=] is literally a rapping, beanie-wearing ''puppy''. What about that description doesn't sound like the most adorable thing in the world? On top of that, his voice in the anime is Creator/MiyuIrino doing the cutest voice he can.
** '''Lammy'''. [[ShrinkingViolet She's a very timid (sheep) girl]] [[MagicFeather without her guitar in-hand,]] and [[HumiliationConga somehow suffers an even more humiliating series of events]] [[CosmicPlaything in her own game;]] and all she wanted to do was get to her concert with her friends on time.
* NightmareFuel:
** [[EverythingsSquishierWithCephalopods Hairdresser Octopus]]. Mainly his [[RunsWithScissors scissors-flailing]] [[BrainwashedAndCrazy crazy side]].
** Don't forget [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU5kBlENd_0 Cathy Piller]]!
** Teriyaki Yoko. Especially when you fail and she rises out of the ground, 100 times her size. Even in the American version.
*** The "Taste of Teriyaki" song itself. There's a reason it's under LoveItOrHateIt below; the whole thing just sounds otherworldly and threatening, [[PlanetHeck which is very fitting for the stage]]. And [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8irurO5ru8 the MilkCan: Make It Sweet remix]] makes it even ''more'' terrifying.
** There's something about the sunset scene Stage 5's cutscene that's very spooky and unsettling... The color error and animation could be suspect.
* ParentalBonus: Benito Mussolini --> Instructor Mooselini.
* {{Sequelitis}}: ''Parappa 2'' isn't a ''bad'' game per se, but it's seen as the weakest of the three games. The main reasons include being [[SequelDifficultyDrop much]] [[ItsEasySoItSucks easier]] than the others, [[ItsTheSameSoItSucks being an almost entire retread of the first one,]] [[AnnoyingVideoGameHelper Boxy Boy's unnecessary tutorials,]] and some more. It's [[DownplayedTrope downplayed though,]] as it's still a very enjoyable game, if not as much as ''Parappa 1'' or ''[=UmJammer=] Lammy''. According to WordOfGod, the dev team took too long to push out ''[=UmJammer=] Lammy'' and ''Parappa 2'', failing to capitalize on the success of the first game while other rhythm based games came out to cash in on the genre's booming popularity.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong:
** In ''[=PaRappa=] 1'', "[=PaRappa=]'s Live Rap With MC King Kong Mushi" sounds a little like the rap version of "[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December,_1963_%28Oh,_What_a_Night%29 December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)]]" by Music/FrankieValliAndTheFourSeasons.
** The cinema before the fourth level includes a short ditty that sounds remarkably like the song "Tijuana Taxi".
** The driving lesson song is a pretty blatant ripoff of "Turtles Have Short Legs" by Can.
* ThatOneBoss: Potentially, ''any'' of the bosses, but [[MeaningfulName Cheap Cheap]] the Cooking Chicken is consistently hard for a lot of people.
* ThatOneLevel: The bathroom rap level is considered to be extremely frustrating due to how many buttons the player has to play back with near perfect timing in order to succeed. This was probably one of the reasons why the sequel has a more forgiving mechanic for button pressing in the levels.

!! Anime-only examples:
* CreatorsPet: A awful lot of the episodes center on anime-only character Paula.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: The Christmas Special is considered to be the most touching episode of the series by fans.
