* AbandonShipping: In the anime, [[spoiler: Arashi/Miwako]] was quite popular, until it was revealed that he raped her out of insecurity. He was redeemed for some in the manga when it was shown that he feels horribly guilty about the rape and is constantly afraid that she will leave him for someone "better" (ie. [[spoiler:Hiro]]). It's clear that after [[spoiler:Hiro]] sets him straight about her feelings for him and he realizes that she loves him for who he is, he becomes more confident and his attitude improves. [[spoiler: (In fact, he and Miwako end up marrying and having a baby.)]] Not that you'd know this if you've only seen the anime.
%%* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
* {{Moe}}: Miwako is so cute and adorable, it extends to her niece and sister, too. Even [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold George]] finds her adorable.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: In the manga, Yukari questions Isabella's "biological sex" pretty soon (she's dressed as a woman, but is absurdly tall and completely flat-chested). In the anime, they favored a more ambiguous (or should we say, ''direct'') approach, giving Isabella a female voice actor.
** [[spoiler: completely cleared in the manga, Isabella's birthname is Daisuke Yamamoto, she came out early at the age of 8 and George of all people was very supportive of her decision.]] On the other hand, her butler was also very supportive of her gender identity, her parents? Not so much.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: This and ''Manga/FushigiYuugi'' were given an "Appropriate for all ages" rating by Animax Asia thanks to the AnimationAgeGhetto. [[SarcasmMode Yes, because the gritty world of modelling and a high school girl being courted by an adult man is totally family friendly material.]]
