* NarmCharm: It cheerfully spoofs 1970s Bollywood, in particular the 'Tiger King' scene, and has absolute fun doing it.
* NightmareFuel: Shantipriya's death scene. Seriously, being trapped in a burning building is ''not'' a good way to go. [[spoiler: And then it's revealed she survived but was BuriedAlive.]]
* SignatureScene: The Saga of Om Shanti Om which distilled the entire film into a song and dance.
* TearJerker: Oh, so much.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotSymbolic: Seriously, the name.
** It could also refer to [[spoiler: how Om is the one who actually reincarnated, but Shanti actually doesn't. Om to Shanti then back to Om again.]]
* TheWoobie:
** Om Prakash, without a doubt. He falls quite hard for Shantipriya, becomes good friends with her, only to find out that she's secretly married to Mukesh Mehra. And when he witnesses Shanti trapped in the burning studio, he tries desperately to save her only to be beaten horrifically by Mukesh's henchmen. Even then, he still tries to save her, only to be blown out in an explosion, and is then accidentally hit by Rajesh Kapoor's car, subsequently dying of his injuries in the hospital.
** Poor, ''poor'' Shantipriya. A kind-hearted, rising superstar actress, she becomes quite close to Om Prakash, who is caring and considerate towards her, all while struggling with being forced to keep her marriage to Mukesh Mehra a secret. All she wants is for her marriage to be publicly acknowledged, especially once she learns she's pregnant, but quickly learns the hard way that the man she loved is a heartless monster who lures her out to a studio with the promise of marriage, only to set it on fire and trap her within it. Even Om's attempts to save her fail as she's forced to watch him being savagely beaten by Mukesh's henchmen, and just as everything seems hopeful for the both of them, an explosion blows Om out of the studio, leaving Shanti to die all alone.
