* AssPull:
** The resolution of Rui's storyline in the Finale anime due to the time constraints.
** The live-action with some minor (and even semi-important) plotlines in the special episodes and movies; for example Tanya and Kuroki's attraction never goes anywhere despite the ShipTease, and Rui's own issues are never explored even after her mother slaps her and drags her away from Chiaki and Nodame in the first movie.
* AwesomeMusic: Can we just give the whole series this and call it?
** Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" will never be the same again.
** Episode 11 where the entire first half of which consists of Chiaki and the A orchestra playing the ''hell'' out of Rachmaninoff. This is eventually followed by Nodame and Chiaki's amazing take on the same piece with two pianos.
** With a PublicDomainSoundtrack featuring music from [[LudwigVanBeethoven Beethoven]] to [[MauriceRavel Ravel]], that is performed by the RealLife Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, this trope is a given for fans of classical music. Notable performances include the concerts of the in-universe [[RagTagBunchOfMisfits S-Orchestra/Rising Star Orchestra]] from Season 1, and any pieces played by Chiaki or Nodame ([[BrilliantButLazy when she is properly motivated]]).
** Also of note are the anime OP and ED themes. In particular, the first OP [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZZAd3BVHV4 'Allegro Cantabile' by SUEMITSU & THE SUEMITH]] comprises lyrics of which are about the joys devoting one's life to playing music. Also the first ED theme [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZxggflHeRw 'Konna ni Chikaku de...' by Crystal Kay]] is beautiful. If there were a theme song for the tropes CannotSpitItOut, and AllLoveIsUnrequited, it would be this.
* DudeNotFunny:
** Chiaki frequently uses physical violence against Nodame, PlayedForLaughs in the manner of a BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine. In the live-action version especially, however, it can come across as less slapstick and a bit more disturbing for some (ironically for most of the same people it's a DoubleStandard since they'll give a pass to female {{tsundere}}s who do the exact same thing to male anime characters who act like Nodame for RuleOfFunny, and they're often fine with others hitting her for RuleOfFunny such as Masumi hitting her [[BerserkButton for touching his instruments]]).
** In one Paris-Hen episode, Nodame ''herself'' [[{{Yandere}} becomes extremely violent against Chiaki]], going as far as kick him in the head. It's supposed to be partly PlayedForLaughs and partly PlayedForDrama, but it's hard to be sympathetic with her at that point.
* EarWorm: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV8tW29vrss "Allegro Cantabile"]]. The OpeningTheme is ''that'' awesome!
* GratuitousSpecialEffects: In the live-action series, especially for comedic effect such as when Nodame is sent flying.
* HoYay:
** One-sided from Masumi towards Chiaki - he's not above always trying to hug him and even kisses him on the cheek once.
** Mine always seems awfully happy when Chiaki is around and is also very concerned with getting his [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything "radar"]].
** The violinist who takes Kiyora's place as the concertmaster also showed some signs, staring intently as Chiaki was unbuttoning his shirt and [[StalkerWithACrush following]] Chiaki around. He also immediately sets his sight on Matsuda once he becomes the replacement conductor.
* LesYay: Nodame and Saiko have an... interesting encounter in a karaoke-bar. It's rather short-lived though, since Nodame is very drunk and Saiko clearly not interested.
* {{Narm}}: In the live-action version, the scenes where Chiaki flashes back to his childhood traumas can be extremely narmy due to the low production values involved.
