* AdaptationDisplacement: When this page was started, there were more entries on this wiki for the game than the actual show. Likely due to the KeepCirculatingTheTapes in the Trivia tab.
* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Many fans think Ned has a condition when you can only have nightmares instead of dreams.
** Not to mention a sleep condition such as Narcolepsy, and possibly even an Anxiety Disorder due to how nervous and high strung he is most of the time.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMoment: When the substitute parents chew out the principal, saying their son would never do such a bad thing he has been accused of.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9DRC4dCYzE The hauntingly melodious main theme]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8l6uN7GlU0 And the beautifully gloomy Attic, Basement, and Beyond theme!]]
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The wrong numbers made while in the principal's office.
-->"''Love ya, baby! Childrens' talent agency!''"
** For a split second during the Bathroom to Medical nightmare cutscene we see a group of unfamiliar characters known as [[http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/nightmarened/images/9/92/Csence.PNG/revision/latest?cb=20110611130255 "Csence"]].
* CatharsisFactor: Gaining the ability to fight back against the doctor in the mouth section of the medical nightmare and seeing him fall on a bunch of needles is very satisfying after all the trouble he has given you.
* CrackPairing: In one of the episodes, the queen ant in Ned's antfarm falls in love with his Dad. Dad turns her down '''solely''' [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments because he's already married]].
* CrossesTheLineTwice: Spinning on a giant wheel, a freak, unnecessary, abominable, monster organ transplant surgery, accompanied by horrified screams.
** Possibly subverted when it looks like they are actually just stuffing the organs down his shirt instead of putting them inside of him... [[{{Squick}} Which is still really gross, anyhow...]]
* FanNickname: "Reaper," "Doctor," "Flush," "Gemini" and "Bully" for the Graveyard, Medical, Bathroom, Attic/Basement and School Shadow Creatures respectively.
* GoddamnedBats: The game has a number of these, mostly in the Graveyard Nightmare.
* HilariousInHindsight: Ned's dog form from "Ned's Life as a Dog" looks an awful lot like [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy Brian Griffin]].
** In "Until Undeath Do Us Part", Ned [[WesternAnimation/CorpseBride accidentally proposes to a corpse]].
** Ned isn't the only character trying to [[VideoGame/PajamaSam work out his fears through imagination]].
* NauseaFuel: The whole Mouth stage is beyond nasty.
* {{Squick}}: A lot. The Plaque Monsters in the Mouth pulsate and explode messily when hit.
** "My head is ready to ''burst'' all over!"
** Grenny, Cyco, and Truddy; the toilet-clog monsters. Yes, you read that right.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: The Shadows are interesting, mysterious characters, but they only have a few lines of dialogue each (most of which you can go through the entire game without hearing), they only speak in the hub world and during the intro and ending sequences, and they're defeated indirectly without directly fighting or confronting any of them.
* TheWoobie: Ned, and the little girl from in the mausoleum.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: Ask most anyone who knows about this game and you'll probably bound to hear something like "Oh, man! That game gave me so many nightmares as a kid."
* WriterInducedFanon: [[spoiler:Sally the little girl is actually Ned's mom as a child.]]
