* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: [[OnceAnEpisode Almost once an episode]] with the Helvetica Standard segments which indulge in ArtShift and ''frequently make no sense at all''.
* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: [[IronButtMonkey Yuuko]](!!!), of all people, gets one in Episode 16 when [[spoiler: after confirming (with the Professor's help) that Nano is a robot, she tells her that "I know that you aren't a robot. Nano-chan is just Nano-chan." Not only does Yuuko make it clear that she doesn't mind that Nano is a robot and considers her a friend, but it also helps Nano to accept herself.]] A CMOH and a CMOA in a single strike: well done, Yuuko!
** And then Sakamoto accidentally talks in front of her, telling her goodnight. "Meh, whatever."
* EarWorm: Both [=OPs=].
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpmxMPhWCbY "Hyadain's Uh-uh-un Unrequited Love-C".]]
** The ending theme, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPqOGM2qEeo "Zzz" by Sayaka Sasaki]], doesn't let up either in its sweet cheeriness. [[{{Squee}} Awww!]]
* Main/FriendlyFandoms: The relationship between this show's fandom and ''Manga/DailyLivesOfHighSchoolBoys'''s fandom, both due to them being similar in name and due to them [[SliceOfLife sharing a genre]]. Both will argue about which show they think is better, but the arguments never get heated, and both fandoms seem to respect each other and their respective shows. If someone has only seen one show and not the other, fans will often urge them to watch the other as well.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: Fans in the west are often ''very'' surprised to hear how badly the anime bombed in Japan.
* HilariousInHindsight: Three of the voice actors doing major roles in ''LightNovel/FateZero'' turn up within the same scene together during [[TheCameo the airship sequence]] of Episode 21 as [[RedShirt a bunch of red shirts]], namely [[Creator/JojiNakata Kirei]], [[Creator/AkioOhtsuka Rider]] and [[Creator/ShowHayami Tokiomi]]. [[spoiler: The first two are killed by Mio within a minute of each other.]]
* MemeticMutation: It is rather popular to photoshop other characters in the Nichijou art style. [[http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=19019855 Some]] [[http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=20090966 examples]] [[http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=19154023 for your]] [[http://blog-imgs-29.fc2.com/c/h/o/cholaret/20110409022545fb3.jpg viewing]] [[http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=manga&illust_id=19666012 pleasure.]] This is known as [[http://preview.tinyurl.com/3v8hkwu "Nichijou OP Parody"]] on the popular Website/{{Pixiv}} art site.
** Even the creators started doing this. One on the back of a box set has the protagonist of [[ShinMegamiTensei Persona 3 and 4 on it.]]
* {{Moe}}: Sakurai-sensei.
** The Professor as a CatGirl.
--->'''Nano:''' Professor, [[InvokedTrope that's probably moe!]]
*** Hell, the Professor, full stop.
** Nano and Sakurai-sensei ''together'', as seen in Episode 14.
** Misato provides the requisite {{Tsundere}} moe.
** Most female characters qualify for this in some way or other. Even Nakamura-sensei, who was noted a few times in-universe to be cute.
* MostAnnoyingSound: Episode 21- [[RepeatCut *smack*-EEK! *smack*-EEK! *smack*-EEK]]! It only lasts about 16 seconds, but it obtains this status after about 4. The scene is widely regarded as a parody of the YoutubePoop genre of WebVideo.
* NightmareFuel: When Sakamoto got stuck in the superglue. Unlike the Professor and Nano, he was ''entirely engulfed''. "I might die", indeed.
** As with ''Manga/KOn'', the use of the song "Tsubasa wo Kudasai" in one of the endings might cause MoodWhiplash for some after watching ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion''.
** The elevator scene in episode 8. You can't help but laugh along with the girls, but be creeped out as well. The fact that part of what they laugh at is the fact that Mai appears to have ''died'' doesn't help, either.
*** The elevator scene is incredibly, ''incredibly'' surreal. It almost seems to be a mockup of David Lynch-style surreal horror (see ''{{Rabbits}}''), what with the disjointed dialogue and strange, atonal soundtrack. The part where they start going into hysterics is the ''least'' creepy thing about it.
* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: Sasahara's UpperClassTwist tendencies, when he actually comes from a family of farmers, are because of the commonly inflated egos of Japanese land owners.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: Episode 3 features one of "Take Five".
** Nakamura-sensei's leitmotif owes a bit to the James Bond theme.
* TearJerker: In the "Small thoughts" segment of Episode 10, a teacher is talking about how people respond to either praise or punishments. A girl at the distance thinks: "I react to praise... but I never am..."
** The scene in Episode 13 where :the Professor allows Nano to go to school is more of a Heartwarming moment, but for all the problems Nano deals with, a lot of viewers feel tears welling up.
* ValuesDissonance: Episode 24. The first time Sasahara talks to Mio is marked by an ImagineSpot of a bunch of Mios... [[UsefulNotes/WorldWarII raising the flag on Iwo Jima]]?
* TheWoobie: Don't you just wanna give Sakurai-sensei a hug?
** Same goes for Nano, big time.
** And via FridgeHorror and FanWank, [[http://green-oval.net/cgi-board.pl/a/thread/49479693 courtesy of /a/:]] Yuuko.
