* AssPull: Gaara revealing he has an anti-lightning jutsu whose workings are a bit head-scratching (as it involves channeling electricity through sand) when he is fighting a lightning user.
* CompleteMonster: The {{greed}}y Haido seeks the titular Stone of Gelel, having attacked Temujin's village for it, personally [[YouKilledMyFather killing the latter's parents]] in the massacre. Sparing the children for the use he saw in them, Haido made Temujin his apprentice while having the others [[PoweredByAForsakenChild put their souls in suits of armor]] and turning them into his unquestioning soldiers. Haido uses his brainwashed army to assault the Land of Wind for the Stone, and upon reaching the Mines of Gelel, Haido begins an all-out slaughter, and even [[KickTheDog mocks Temujin]] when he realizes Haido was responsible for his parents' death. Transforming to kill his enemies, Haido proclaims that with the Stone in his possession he will [[NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist enslave the entire world]].
* FanonDiscontinuity: While many people usually tend to ignore all the movies except for [[Anime/NarutoTheMovieNinjaClashInTheLandOfSnow the first one]], this one seems to be the most unpopular of them all, among other things for how un-''Naruto''-y their elements feel.
* MoralEventHorizon: Haido, when he's revealed to be the murderer of Temujin's parents and laughs at how Temujin had been so loyal to him while being in the dark.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Many people were frustrated that the first appearance of Gaara and Kankuro in a movie was in such a lackluster one. The fact that it became their only movie appearance (except by a one-scene cameo by Gaara in ''Anime/NarutoShippudenTheMovieInheritorsOfTheWillOfFire'', but only that) in a collection of ten films is still bitter for their fans. Hell, Temari doesn't appear period, not even a throwaway line to explain her absence here.
