* BrokenBase: The origami styling of the Pokémon. Some think they're adorable (as Pokémon should), others think that they look ugly and really lazily-designed, and some think [[NightmareFuel they look creepy]]. This extends to the ''VideoGame/PokemonRumble'' games.
* HilariousInHindsight: [[HilariousInHindsight/{{Pokemon}} Check the main page]].
* JustHereForGodzilla: One of the reasons some players stomached the mind-boggling design choices was the chance to obtain a free Mew.
* ScrappyMechanic: Wanted to use this game as a dumping ground for your Pokémon, start a new game, then withdraw them back into the new file? Well, for reasons only known to Nintendo and Game Freak, ''My Pokémon Ranch'' is specifically programmed to only allow Pokémon to be withdrawn by the exact save file that deposited them. This design flaw makes the game completely useless for most players, and the fact this was never patched didn't help matters. Tellingly, [[AuthorsSavingThrow Game Freak avoided this form of pseudo-DRM when]] it came to ''Pokémon Bank''. Also, the update that made the game compatible with ''Platinum'' never released outside of Japan, and the game was never made compatible with any other Pokémon games at all.
* SpiritualSuccessor: To ''Pokémon Box'', a storage system for ''Ruby and Sapphire'' on the Platform/GameCube.
