* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
** "Environmentalists vs. The Unemployed" ends randomly with Hindi/Indian music played over the credits.
** The segment from TC where General Tani is resurrected after being killed in battle is turned into Captain Tenneal randomly rising from a grave at the end of an episode.
* CrossesTheLineTwice: Absolutely. Many of Kenny's dialogue was basically this, given he was the jokester to Vic's StraightMan.
** Chief Otto Parts. His dialogue rarely went outside of "Hi-How-Are-Ya?" (Spoken in a chant).
** There is ''always'' a mentally challenged contestant. You can tell by three defining aspects: 1) they are AlwaysMale, 2) they always have a high-pitched wailing/screaming and 3) they almost always fail at the challenge. Also expect the hosts to reference a made-for-work job, a short vehicle, and/or padded safety gear.
*** In one episode, a mentally challenged contestant fell on Log Drop, and said they were "smacked normal". Vic said the drop "knocked the stupid out of him".
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Jeffrey Thomer from "Desperate Housewives vs Ultimate Fighting Champs". For the judges/hosts themselves, many liked field reporter Guy [=LeDouche=] and field marshal [[PunnyName Captain Tenneal]]. On a lesser scale, you have Chief Otto Parts and Guy's extended family (Goon, Gay, etc.)
* GeniusBonus: Episodes involving teams drawn from entertainment -- The World of ''Film/JamesBond'', ''Series/DesperateHousewives'', Las Vegas, UsefulNotes/{{NASCAR}}, ''Series/{{Jackass}}'', etc. -- are funnier the more familiar you are with the material in question.
* HoYay: Vic and Kenny have this during the "Couples" episode, when Kenny points out that [[LikeAnOldMarriedCouple they're like a couple]] - much to Vic's continued chagrin.
* RetroactiveRecognition: Co-creators Paul Abeyta and Peter Kaikko previously helmed the 1999-2001 Creator/{{GSN}} original series ''Burt Luddin's Love Buffet'', a low budget Newlywed Game takeoff intercut with Larry Sanders Show-style scripted segments, with John Cervenka as Burt Luddin and Christopher Darga as the station manager. The show was derided by many GSN fans, but has received some renewed recognition as an MXC precursor.
** Victor Wilson had a good resume as a writer and voice actor outside of MXC, with credits on various Nickelodeon cartoons, ''WesternAnimation/{{Histeria}}'', and the 2005-2006 season of ''[=MadTV=]'', among others.
** Mary Scheer is much better known these days as [[MyBelovedSmother Mrs. Benson]] from ''Series/ICarly''.
* ValuesDissonance: This shows just how rapidly a lot of the jokes went out of style, particularly jokes aimed at the LGBTQ+ community. Then again, [[ValuesResonance in some cases the jokes may end up a bit too on-the-nose in]] TheNewTwenties.
