* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Considering its opening and ending themes are perfored by Music/JAMProject, enough said.
** Even still, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUBMi8igtf0 Fire Wars]]" ''must'' be mentioned for being quite possibly the most HotBlooded song the group has ever churned out.
** Let's not forget the awesome ''Majin Kenzan''!! insert song in the movie, accompanying Mazinkaiser's triumphant return to Earth, and the ensuing CurbStompBattle it inflicts thereafter (see DynamicEntry on the main page).
** "Theme of Mazinkaiser" by JAM Project founder (and singer of the original ''Mazinger Z'' theme) Ichiro Mizuki
** The ED, "Tornado", is also by JAM Project, and is also awesome.
* BestKnownForTheFanservice: Despite being a bit character, the scene where Lori is introduced in her extremely revealing sling bikini in episode 4 has become a somewhat viral gif, especially on ecchi forums.
* FanNickname: [[spoiler:"Shin (真, ''True'') Great Mazinger" for the original Great that Tetsuya Tsurugi pilots near the end of the OAV, since it's revealed the one he used at the start is an inferior copy of Juzo Kabuto's original, just like the Mazinkaiser]].
* HilariousInHindsight: Mazinkaiser was originally created so that the Mazinger franchise has a new Super Robot to keep up with newer units like the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Nu Gundam]] and [[Manga/GetterRobo Shin Getter Robo]]. Comes ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsDD'' where Getter Noir G, another Dynamic Production original, shares the Gigant Missile attack that Mazinkaiser uses.
* MemeticBadass: The eponymous mech itself, thanks to it stated as being Juzo Kabuto's ultimate weapon, which is instantly proven right by just how damn unstoppable it is!
* {{Narm}}: When Kouji and the Hover Pilder are ripped out of the Mazinger Z and thrown into the sky, [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} does this remind you of]] [[TerribleTrio a certain Team Rocket]] RunningGag?
* PlayingAgainstType: It's hard to believe that [[{{Keet}} Boss]] is voiced by Creator/FumihikoTachiki here. Yes, the same guy who voices [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Gendo Ikari]].
* RuleOfFunny: ''Mazinkaiser'' applied principles of this (such as having mecha lip-synching with its pilots) to HumongousMecha [[OlderThanYouThink years before]] ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'' did roughly the same.
* SugarWiki/SuperlativeDubbing: While there are a few pronunciation-emphasis problems in the dub, (Sa-YA-ka, Ka-BU-to, Ma-ZIN-ger, etc), the acting overall is excellent; in particular, Robert Newell and John Paul Shepard are nearly ''perfect'' in their respective roles of Koji and Dr. Hell.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: "Fire Wars" sounds like a mashup of [[Music/BonJovi "Livin' on a Prayer" and "You Give Love a Bad Name."]]
* TearJerker: Several parts of the ''General of Darkness'' movie. Specially [[spoiler: this continuity's rendition of Dr. Morimori's HeroicSacrifice]], [[spoiler: Lori and Loru's ''horrifying'' {{Family Unfriendly Death}}s]], and towards the end [[spoiler: Kouji's incredibly heartfelt ManlyTears when he defeats the BigBad and says he's avenged his fallen friends.]]
