* {{Anvilicious}}: This is not a show that believes in subtlety, especially when it comes to messages about family.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The series' soundtrack is catchy and hopeful, perfectly embodying the themes of magic, courage, and family present throughout, especially some of the more notable vocal songs created for the series. Also among the {{Image Song}}s, Kai's "[[https://youtu.be/5gK6WVgpKQA Yuuki wa Phoenix]]" stands out. Yes, that ''is'' Atsushi Hashimoto singing it. Surprised?

%%** "Mahou Sentai Magiranger" Opening performed by Iwasaki Takafumi.
%%** "Make Legend! Magiranger!" performed by Mizuki Ichirou.

%%** "Fantastic! [=MagiAction=]" performed by Takatori Hideaki.
%%** "Song For Magitopia performed" by Mizuki Ichirou, Kushida Akira, and Kageyama Hironobu.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The confrontation with the MonsterOfTheWeek in stage 14 takes place in an old west style setting.
* CompleteMonster: [[DragonInChief Hades God Dagon]], leader of the [[JerkassGods Infershia Pantheon of Hades Gods]], is dedicated to the revival of the [[EldritchAbomination Dark God]] [[GreaterScopeVillain N Ma]]. Adhering to the Dark Precepts, Dagon shows no regret in executing his fellow God Ifrit when [[YouHaveFailedMe Ifrit fails to defeat the Magirangers within a time limit]]. Dagon soon shows his true colors by cheating, and when the good-hearted Hades God Titan attempts to seal away N Ma within himself, Dagon ambushes and kills him, releasing N Ma to devour Magitopia, Earth and even Infershia as well. Betraying and attempting to kill his honorable companion Sphinx, Dagon later rejects her offer to ally with the humans, claiming all he desires is destruction and to see "the ultimate nightmare."
* CrazyIsCool: Many of the spells take on unusual forms, yet are devastating in no small part because of this.
* EvenBetterSequel: While ''Dekaranger'' is by far the more popular series, ''Magiranger'' managed to avert ToughActToFollow by still being a very popular and well-received series due to its likable characters, strong plot, and worldbuilding. It's common for many fans to like both (see FriendlyFandoms below) but have a stronger preference for ''Magiranger''.
* FriendlyFandoms: With its predecessor series ''Series/TokusouSentaiDekaranger'', due to sharing a lot of similarities in style (especially with them sharing Hideaki Tsukada as a producer) and having a very popular [[Film/MahouSentaiMagirangerVsDekaranger crossover movie]]. This extends to their respective casts as well, who are noticeably good friends with each other even years after both series ended and some of the actors have since retired from the industry.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: While it was successful in Japan, Magiranger was so popular in Korea, they made an MMO game based on the series. ''In 2011.''
* GrowingTheBeard: The show definitely comes into its own with the introduction of the Heavenly Saint Lunagel in Stage 16, gradually ramping up the stakes as the Magirangers and Infershia get stronger.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** In stage 22, the Magirangers end up in a JidaiGeki themed [[PocketDimension Marudeyona World]] and are forced to dress and fight like ninjas. The core cast would later appear in ''Chou Ninja Tai Inazuma'', a ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' parody set in the JidaiGeki period with our heroes being magically empowered ninjas.
** Nic Sampson, the actor who played Tsubasa's ''Franchise/PowerRangers'' counterpart [[Series/PowerRangersMysticForce Chip]], went on to play the Sentinel Knight, gold-armored [[Series/GoGoSentaiBoukenger Zuban]]'s counterpart, in [[Series/PowerRangersOperationOverdrive the following season]]. Five years later, Hiroya Matsumoto, Tsubasa's actor, would play a gold warrior himself, [[Series/TokumeiSentaiGoBusters Masato/Beet Buster]].
** In Stage 37, a foreign woman asks Tsubasa for directions in English, but Tsubasa struggles out a decline due to not knowing enough English. Years later, Tsubasa becomes a guest instructor at a magic school in ''England'' and even taught Yakumo Kato of the ''Series/ShurikenSentaiNinninger''.
* ItWasHisSled: [[spoiler:Wolzard actually being the siblings' disappeared father is common knowledge to people with a passing familiarity with the series, especially due to ''[[Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger Gokaiger]]'' prominently using Wolzard Fire in association with [=MagiMother=].]]
* LesYay: Houka with both Nai and Mea/Vancuria, the two girl's first major plot had them hypnotizing and transforming Houka into their vampiress servant, and are always touchy-feely with their enemy and disregarding of personal space.
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: [[spoiler:As though the writers were really going to kill off Blagel, Sungel, and Miyuki at the very end.]]
%% Do not add MagnificentBastard entries without consulting [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15255322860A44444400 the thread]].
* MemeticMutation: [[Memes/SuperSentai See this page for examples.]]
* MoralEventHorizon:
** Meemy crossed it with his betrayal of Magitopia and willing defection to Infershia for the sake of power.
** Dagon crosses it when he kills [[spoiler:Titan, who intended to enter a deep slumber to free himself of his service to Infershia, all in a bid to free N Ma and let him destroy existence]].
** N Ma crosses it when he [[spoiler:destroys Magitopia, following by killing Hikaru/Sungel and Isamu Ozu/Blagel then dropping their corpses for the Magiranger to watch in horror.]]
* NarmCharm: Let's face it, how they did the theme of family, courage, and magic is a little silly but somehow, they make it work epically thanks to its characters and plot.
* NeverLiveItDown: Despite only doing it ''once'' in the entire show, Mandora Boy's most commonly referred to trait is the fact that he sings.
** [[spoiler:The series has gained a certain sort of infamy for being the series where "a couple [[FourthDateMarriage gets together and has their wedding on the spot]]", although a combination of the fact the relationship had been extensively foreshadowed beforehand, the writing surrounding their LastWishMarriage, and [[RefugeInAudacity the completely shameless way it goes about it]] has made it much better received than it might be otherwise.]]
* NightmareFuel:
** [[DepravedBisexual Belbireji the Incubis]] uses this both as his primary powerset, and is generally very creepy.
** And then there's the [[BodyHorror fashion in which N Ma emerges from Titan's body...]]
** N. Ma's final form, he has a CreepyMonotone and HorrorHunger, not just for magic but everything in existence even time itself, which he demonstrates by actually sending the Magiranger to the future, while we're treated to a sight of a corpse rotting away as N Ma transports the heroes to a future where he won and destroyed all life he could see.
** Though in the actual show most of the details of N. Ma's actual EldritchAbomination form are obscured by red tinting, the [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/powerrangers/images/a/a5/Nmaca.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20210108155429 concept art]] shows all of the horrific design.
* ShockingMoments: Stage 42 explodes past all limits with [=WolKentauros=] vs. Hades God Sleipnir on his chariot, complete with nod to Literature/BenHur!
%%* SoBadItsGood: The Korean version of the opening: "Go Fight Pow! Pow! Power Ranger!"
* SpecialEffectFailure:
** The premier of Travelion's [[KillItWithFire Destruction Fire Reverse Spray]] is decidedly underwhelming. It was 2005 though, so we can't knock them too hard for it.
** The suit for when [=MagiPhoenix=] rides [=MagiDragon=] looks odd due to how it's worn: the stunt performer is clearly wearing [[http://supersentai.com/database/2005_magiranger/images/magi-mm-magidragon.jpg the torso of MagiPhoenix and the legs of MagiDragon]], turning the rest of the dragon into a lifesaver around the performer's waist from which the lower legs of [=MagiPhoenix=] dangle. Whenever the performer moves in this set-up, the entire suit wobbles unconvincingly, and when it's filmed in slow motion after defeating a monster it's even worse.
* TearJerker: Stage 28's StarCrossedLovers plot was simply heart-wrenching when you realize that by [[spoiler:Rei's]] DeathByOriginStory, this killed any chances of [[spoiler:Tsubasa]] [[DidNotGetTheGirl getting the girl]]. The kicker? The song of the same name of the episode, "Eien ni..." (Eternally...) is mind-numbingly depressing as well and plays at the end of the episode, when [[spoiler:Rei finally moves on to the afterlife]].
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Meemy used to be an electric heavenly saint, Raigel. He could be used trying to corrupt Tsubasa due to his element and cynicism towards Kai, who has the same element as his father. This could have resulted in many cool scenes.
* UnexpectedCharacter: The 2018 ''Hero Mama League'' special is centered around Sentai heroes who have grown up to become mothers and struggle to juggle their hero work with their lives as housewives...so imagine everyone's surprise when one of the featured ladies turned out to be none other than ''Houka'', whose general flightiness and ReallyGetsAround tendencies don't exactly inspire an immediate image of a natural housewife and mother. (Fittingly, in the special itself, while she's shown to have committed to a husband, she's easily the ditziest of the moms present to the point where [[WackyParentSeriousChild her toddler daughter keeps calling her out on it]].) Making it even more surprising is that while the other two participating actresses were enthusiastic Sentai alumni who had reprised their roles multiple times by that point, Houka's actress Ayumi Beppu had previously declared an intention not to appear in children's shows again; her cameo appearance in ''[[Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger Gokaiger]]'' indicated she wasn't completely against reprising her role as Houka, but the announcement still came as a huge surprise for those who weren't expecting to see her come back for more.[[note]]In fact, Beppu is openly fond of ''Magiranger'' and her role as Houka, so it seems her statement was probably more relevant to any new roles and not past ones.[[/note]]
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: In Stage 9, [=FireKaiser's=] [[FlamingSword Flaming Bari Javelin]] is actually on fire, and not just for StockFootage!
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: For a series revolving around a heartwarming "Family" theme, [=MagiRanger=] can be pretty dark when it comes to human casualties; victims are killed off in ways as NightmareFuel-ish as possible[[note]] As much as a general-audience show can allow, for the very least.[[/note]], and after they die, ''they stay dead''.
* TheWoobie: Tsubasa after Stage 28. The poor dude lost [[spoiler:his first love Rei after she passes away for the second time due to the MOTW, and he's clearly not okay afterwards.]]
