* {{Applicability}}: Music/PaulMcCartney's mom was the inspiration for the "Mother Mary" lyric from "Let It Be". When asked if the song referred to the Virgin Mary, [=McCartney=] has typically answered the question by assuring his fans that they can interpret the song however they would like.[[note]]Certain translations of Literature/TheBible render the Virgin Mary's response to Angel Gabriel's call as "''Let it be'' done to me according to your word," which inevitably led to the Biblical interpretation.[[/note]]
* CommonKnowledge: Music/{{The Rolling Stones|Band}} album ''Music/LetItBleed'' was released in 1969, so their title was not a PunBasedTitle on ''Let It Be''. Theirs appeared first.
* CriticalBacklash: For decades this album was considered to be the least ''good'' Beatles album. However, with the passing of time it has been VindicatedByHistory as not as bad as some people make it out to be, and with plenty of other people who will defend it outright.
* OlderThanTheyThink: While obviously they recorded it first, the long delay time in the release of the material for the album sessions allowed Music/ArethaFranklin to release "Let it Be" before The Beatles. Her take was a track on the ''This Girl's in Love With You'' album, issued in January of 1970, while the Beatles didn't release it as a single until March. Paul had offered her the song and sent her a demo tape so she could learn it.
* SignatureScene: The entire rooftop concert at the end of the film, if only for the fact that it was the very last concert the Beatles ever did. To this day, it remains such an iconic element of popular music history that it's still a common subject of parodies and pastiches, ranging from a homage by Music/{{U2}} to a parody by ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons''.
* TearJerker: The film is this at several points, as quite a few scenes show this legendary rock band quarrel among themselves to the point that they can no longer stand each other, after all the magnificent art they have created together and the world they changed.
* VindicatedByHistory:
** The 1970 Music/PhilSpector mix was originally derided as overproduced and missing the point of the original recordings, which were created with the intention of making a RevisitingTheRoots album. However, decades later, it now spoken of more fondly by a considerable amount of Beatles fans and critics, who feel that the Spector mix is good in its own right. Music/JohnLennon himself being a fan of the Spector mix certainly helps.
** The original concept was to capture the Beatles in their magic creating a new album. The original film cut captures little magic, depicting a band at each others throats. ''Series/TheBeatlesGetBack'' shows these guys working quite well together, working through their problems.
