* EarWorm: Every single ending theme of the anime
* LesYay: All over the place. For one, ''several'' of the main characters are openly interested in other women, notably Chouun. Then, there's Sousou's harem...
** In the {{OVA}}, Sousou upholds her [[PsychoLesbian reputation]] by going at it with Keifa on-screen
** Kakuka appears to be ''extremely'' [[{{Nosebleed}} enthralled by Sousou]]
** Otome Tairan takes it UpToEleven when Sheren (Sonsaku) and Shuuyu were going at it off screen which includes rear gates, camps, and everything you can use as a strategy.
** Moukaku and her gang of {{cat girl}}s appear to be obsessed with large breasts.
** Ganryou and Bunshuu of the En faction truly care for each other. Too bad their boss is nuts.
** Gien falls in love with Ryuubi at first sight.
** The scene where Ryuubi is saved by Butterfly Mask (Chounn).
* MagnificentBastard: Quite possibly Ukitsu; Choujou in ''Otome Tairan'' might count.
* {{Moe}}: Almost the entire female cast.
* NightmareFuel: You may be at least a bit squeamish at Bachou's appearance in episode eleven of season one...
** Or anything Chousen and Himiko...''really''...
* PlayerPunch: An almost literal application for those who played the games and then get into the anime. For example Kayuu keeps saying that she's the type who lives a long life while players know [[spoiler: she dies in almost all the scenarios]] and Sonsaku expressing the fact that she doesn't know what would happen if she or Shuyuu lost each other. [[spoiler: We do. Shuyuu would eventually have what amounts to a nervous breakdown, cause a civil war in Koutou instigated by Ukitsu and commit suicide by burning down the palace. Plus becoming a much more bitter and cruel woman than the one we know from the anime.]]
* VillainDecay: Ukitsu started off as seemingly invincible, only to be [[spoiler: killed by Ryuubi of all people]] later on! Choujou also seemed very powerful and influential, but it turned out that she was just being [[spoiler: used by Ukitsu, who ended up turning her into a rat]].
** And the biggest waste of villain potential throughout the course of the series has to be the masked, cloaked man from episode 8 of season 1. He orchestrated a successful kidnapping, and subsequently an almost successful assassination attempt. He resurfaces later on, but is unfortunately revealed to be [[spoiler: the Fake Ryuubi]]. His decay is so drastic, that it's almost impossible to imagine that the two are in fact the same person.
* WhatAnIdiot: En Faction
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: While Koihime has a very lighthearted and whimsical feel to it, it either directly or indirectly refers to alot of things meant for {{seinen}}. And that's not even getting into the completely gratuitous {{Fanservice}}.
* TheWoobie: The Ton faction in general and Chinkyuu's backstory in particular. Their role is [[spoiler: to be blamed for horrible, horrible crimes that they did not commit]].
