* AwesomeMusic: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoaMp3Q51Fo Kakusei]], sung by Ricky of Rider Chips.
** Speaking of which, there's also the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwsrQOitTI4 Rider Chips version of the song]].
* BrokenBase: Who is the real SecondRider of ''Kamen Rider Blade''; Chalice or Garren?
** Those who argue in favor of Hajime Aikawa/Chalice point out his status as the Deuteragonist making his relationship with the main character one that receives more focus than the latter's relationship with Sakuya Tachibana/Garren. In relation, Hajime receives second billing in the credits and is also the second character to feature after Blade in the TitleSequence. He's also the only Rider to receive a SuperMode equivalent to Kenzaki's King Form while Garren only has a [[MidSeasonUpgrade Jack Form]] and Leangle has nothing.
** Sakuya Tachibana/Garren supporters point out the aesthetic contrasts between Blade and Garren that in any other show would be the ideal Primary Rider-Second Rider dynamic. Not only are their powers both based on the BOARD-designed Rider System (Chalice's originates from his nature as the Joker Undead, while Leangle's Rider System was designed by an Undead), there's also the contrasting nature of their animal motifs ([[JapaneseBeetleBrothers Kenzaki's Rhinoceros Beetle to Tachibana's Stag Beetle]]) and the [[RedOniBlueOni blue-red]] contrast of their suits. Additionally, Tachibana's EnsembleDarkhorse status and the fact that he is the second Rider to appear in the series proper (as well as having the first arc of the series being essentially devoted to him) provides extra fuel to the argument.
** Notably, Toei itself seems uncertain as to who is Blade's SecondRider. In the [[VideoGame/KamenRiderClimaxHeroes Climax Heroes]] and [[VideoGame/KamenRiderBattrideWar Battride War]] games, Garren is treated as the Second Rider. But in the Ganbaride games, promotional cards featuring the Primary Rider in tandem with the Secondary Rider depict Chalice as the Secondary Rider.
* CompleteMonster:
** Hiroshi Tennoji, the series' true BigBad, absolutely reeks of [[ItsAllAboutMe obsession for self-preservation]] [[TakeOverTheWorld and world domination by any means necessary]]. As the head of [=BOARD=], he creates the Battle Fight by releasing the Undead and manipulating his contracted Kamen Riders to take them out. As the battle progressed, he invented the Trials and the Titan Undead, all so he could buy himself time to create Kerberos, an artificial Undead with DNA from all 53 Undead that could surpass the Black Joker itself. Tennoji's invention kills the entire [=BOARD=] staff upon being born from the Stone of Sealing before he seals the artificial Undead to create a new Change Card. He uses the card to transform into Kerberos II before revealing his dream: [[TheCaligula to create a new world order with himself as its ruler.]] It takes all four Riders ([[SuperMode with Blade in his King Form and Garren in his Jack form]]) to stop Tennoji once and for all.
** Isaka, aka the Peacock Undead, exemplifies how low [[ManipulativeBastard manipulative bastards]] can go. As the first Category Jack Undead, he designed Rider System 3, a belt that allows the user to transform into Kamen Rider Leangle. Unfortunately, that same belt requires using an improperly sealed Ace card that contains the Spider Undead, meaning that its user would be mentally enslaved by the Undead (as later seen with Mutsuki). After designing the corrupted Rider System, he brainwashed many people that he was going to use as expendable slaves to create his "Ultimate Rider". When this plan failed, Isaka turns his attention to Sakuya Tachibana and attempts to retrieve him as a prototype user. Isaka knows about Tachibana's subconscious fear and takes advantage of it to [[CurbStompBattle curbstomp]] him. Isaka tricks his defeated opponent to getting addicted to [[FantasticDrug Schuld Ketsner seaweed]], lying that the aggression-inducing plant would eliminate fear. [[spoiler: When [[LoveInterest Sayoko]] notices her lover's addiction, Isaka smugly kills her for attempting to clean up her lover.]] Upon learning about [[spoiler:Sayoko's]] death, Tachibana loses his subconscious fear and eventually gives the bastard exactly what he deserves.
* CreatorsPet: Mutsuki Kamijo. He's despised by the audience yet the staff likes him. Fortunately, he got RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap in the final quarter of the series.
* FountainOfMemes: In its native Japan; other than the Ondulish "language" this series Riders (especially Garren, [[MemeticMutation for some reason]]) tend to cross over in other series fan art.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: The Joker Undead defies whatever connotations its name implies, by being quite possibly the scariest monster in the show, despite being armed with just a knife. [[Film/TheDarkKnight Heath Ledger would do the same thing some years later]].
* GameBreaker: King Form.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The show is [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4BMJ-cNXTY&feature=related ridiculously popular in Thailand]], gaining more viewers and selling more toys over there than it ever did in Japan. It is so popular, a Thai channel even ''made an after-school special featuring Kamen Rider Blade''. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPPHUo-soMg&feature=related In terms of quality, however]], it never stood a chance against the original.
* HilariousInHindsight: This series is filled with things that would be awesome {{Mythology Gag}}s if this series had aired about ten years later. A wind-powered Rider whose Rider Kick lifts its Rider in a cyclone, and who is associated with black and the joker? [[Series/KamenRiderDouble We'll see it again five years later.]] Also, a password at one point is "Double Joker." And we'll be seeing the JapaneseBeetleBrothers with a RedOniBlueOni dynamic again in ''Series/KamenRiderKabuto,'' though with the colors swapped to fit the trope better. Also, the card names are two words: the effect and the animal the sealed undead is based on. This makes the card Blade uses for changing "Change Beetle," a phrase we'll become very familiar with in ''Series/KamenRiderKabuto.''
* HoYay: A lot between Kenzaki and Hajime. Especially given the ending. Moreso given the tone and content of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2c6r7rzxP0 this song]].
* MemeticMutation: Easily the most memetic Kamen Rider show in Japan. It has spawned many parody vids, and most Kamen Rider parody videos will often refer to memes from this show.
** A relatively unknown meme in the West (for obvious reasons), the Japanese have had a lot of fun with ''Kamen Rider Blade''. ''Onduru-Go'' (roughly translated as "The Ondul Language" or "Ondulish"), is a meme originating from protagonists, Kenzaki's fairly heavy-handed enunciations. The meme name comes from the first episode where Kenzaki is supposed to be saying, ''Hontou ni uragittan desuka!?'' ("Have you really betrayed us?"), but ended up sounding like, ''Onduru ruragittan disukaa!?'' Since then, it's reached a fair amount of popularity as a Japan-based net meme and has in fact received reference within the Blade AlternateUniverse episodes of ''Series/KamenRiderDecade'', as well as a shout-out in ''[[LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu]]''. It got another nod in the net movies for ''Let's Go Kamen Rider'' (the 40th anniversary movie), where the phrase that inspired the meme is the title of the episode that focuses on Blade. Kenzaki, for his part, has since been labelled the ''Kenjaki, the Prince of Ondul Planet''.
** A meme concerning this scene does exist in considerable parts of the English speaking fandom, though not for the same reasons. It concerns the line: "Tachibana, why are you watching? Are you a traitor?". This stems from the fact some found it very hard to take the scene seriously, and it grew from there.
** Another aspect of this meme are the ''Blade'' emoticons ( 0w0), ( 0M0), ( 0H0), (<::V::>) and chibi Blade's going "Wa~y!" ({{Mondegreen}} from the original opening theme's "BLADE BRAVE" line, and his primary BattleCry).
*** And then there's (^U^) for Kamen Rider Glaive, though rather taken from the rider suit like those other emoticons, it is taken from his actor. And even then, it is based on the A. R. version of ''Missing Ace'' from ''KamenRiderDecade'' (there called [=DiEnd=] World as it also ties to his backstory). There Glaive is donned by Junichi Kaito (as with other A. R. Worlds, he is based on a character from the main world, this one being Junichi Shimura, although this time he is played by the same actor). His acting there is very memetic to the Japanese due to the mix of SlasherSmile and StepfordSmiler, hence the happy emoticon. Because the character is played by the same actor and that the A. R. World is based from a movie of ''Kamen Rider Blade'', this emoticon (along with the other memes associated with the character - like the dissonant smiling and repeated phrase of "Brother!") have been treated as some sort of CanonImmigrant to ''Blade'' memes. It's telling that whenever he is included, they usually refer to the ''Decade'' version than the ''Missing Ace'' version.
** Tachibana / Kamen Rider Garren is ''rife'' with this.
*** A famous one is the shot of Garren looking out silently behind a wall from episode 1. Whenever there is a Blade related fanart, be sure to look out for this.
*** [[https://youtu.be/L00KRKldNaY?t=2m16s ORE NO KARADA WO BOROBORO DA!!]][[labelnote:Explanation]]Tachibana screams this in an over-the-top fashion that it sounds more hammy than dramatic. The line translates to "My body is breaking down!"[[/labelnote]]
*** SAN!![[labelnote:Explanation]]In the episode where Tachibana is training Mutsuki, they were practicing in those automated baseball field and he has Mutsuki call out the number of the approaching ball. He shows off by catching an incoming ball and shouting three (hence "SAN!!") before revealing the ball to Mutsuki. The way he shouts it became a meme word for fans of him.[[/labelnote]]
*** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLMTCcKlhro His over-the-top scream]] when an Undead approaches him is very infamous.
*** While not technically Garren per-se as the song is used even when Blade is doing something, the insert song [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdPJd8DBWrQ Rebirth]] is attributed to him as his actor Hironari Amano sung it. Part of the end of the chorus is the line "GOTTA BE STRONG!" repeated twice. However, MondeGreen is in full effect and Japanese fans have taken to call it as "KARA-MISO!" (a brand of spicy curry).
*** [[DivingKick DROP!]] [[PlayingWithFire FIRE!]] [[DoppelgangerAttack GEMINI!]]
*** '''''[[SayMyName SAYOKO!!!]]'''''
** Kamen Rider Chalice has some that is used a lot.
*** Him threatening Kenzaki and shouting "MUKOROSU!"[[labelnote:*]]I will kill you![[/labelnote]] is his meme catchphrase (a kin to the "traitor" phrase of Blade and "body is broken" phrase of Garren). Japanese fans also take note of his face, complete with hilariously popped out eyeballs and widened nostrils.
*** In one point in the series he became amnesiac and is switched roles with a look-alike (Ryo Mikami, played by the same actor) who happens to be a heir to a takoyaki stand. Later in the episode Ryo puts on a hilarious armor called [[http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/kamenrider/images/5/50/TaiyakiMaster.png/revision/latest?cb=20150409120217 Taiyaki Master]] that improves takoyaki cooking. He even yells "ULTIMATE FORM! SPECIAL TURBO!" that doubles his speed in cooking (as fans joked as a pre-cursor to [[KamenRiderKabuto Clock Up]]). It doubles as a ShoutOut to KamenRiderKuuga, particularly his Ultimate Kuuga form as they share colors even. Now even though the character Hajime never wore it, his actor did, and so using this image and meme is attributed to him.
** Kamen Rider Leangle has some too.
*** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abF4adZ4th0 GO AFTER HIM, MUTSUKI!]]
*** SAIKYOU DA!![[labelnote:Explanation]]His obsession with being the strongest makes him utter this line (it means "I'm the strongest!") many times to the point that it's his meme catchphrase[[/labelnote]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etw7tSJghRM These]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7DGqKYubsE videos]] should ultimately summarize the whole insanity of the memes this show produced.
* {{Narm}}: There's a ''lot'' of this in the first ten episodes of the series, mainly due to Kenzaki's actor slurring a lot of his lines as mentioned above (Though, this is only noticeable if the viewer knows Japanese). Some standout examples include the aforementioned scene in episode 1, and Kenzaki's reaction to Tachibana telling him that [[spoiler: the Rider System will eventually destroy both of them]] in episode 3.
* NightmareFuel: The Leangle belt leaks ''spiders,'' which should creep anyone who has arachnophobia out.
** Also, children could get easily freaked out by Mutsuki when the Spider Undead possesses him.
* TheScrappy: Amane, due to being a ClingyJealousGirl for Hajime, to the point that she absolutely cannot function without him around, making her attachment to him just creepy. There's also the fact that she's incredibly disrespectful to adults, including her own mother, and especially to her uncle.
* StopHelpingMe: Done entirely for humor in the Hyper Battle Video. A Trial has impersonated Kazuma, and he asks Tachibana and Mutsuki for help. Each of them in turn says "I know who the impostor is!", pulls out his personal weapon (while not transformed)...and attacks the real Kazuma, getting him shot in the ass and bashed over the head respectively.
* TearJerker: [[spoiler:Trial B's death]].
** Also, the whole damn series finale. [[spoiler: Kenzaki [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifices his humanity to save Hajime and the world from annihilation.]] As a result, he has to stay as far away from any of his friends, including Hajime and Tachibana, as possible. [[PrecisionFStrike Fuck....]] It gets worse if you take the crossovers as canon to the Blade universe, in which Kenzaki comes back in Series/KamenRiderDecade as a completely different person, [[{{Jerkass}} and not in the good way]].]]
** Even worse is the novel continuation, where [[spoiler: Kazuma has been WalkingTheEarth for 300 years and has become a DeathSeeker because of all he's had to give up. Even worse, he can't die at all, since if he were to die Hajime would be unsealed.]]
* {{Wangst}}: Mutsuki's childhood trauma from being kidnapped and locked into a safety box as an infant was brought up early in the series, apparently reinforcing his resolve to become a Rider... at least until the trauma's resolved and the Wangst is all that remained.
