* AdaptationDisplacement: Viewers more familiar with the Disney versions of the stories might think Pinocchio's friend Meru is an OriginalCharacter, when she's actually the Blue Fairy, who was much more prominent in the [[Literature/TheAdventuresOfPinocchio original book]], and may be surprised at ''Literature/TheLittleMermaid'''s tragic original ending which serves as a major plot point for the episode.
* {{Adorkable}}: Most of the time, Pochiro's a badass comedian but there are times where he shows a cuter, much more laid back and comedic side to his personality. Just look at him while he's dressed in his baker, pilgrim and punk rocker outfits from the Hansel And Gretel, Bluebird Of Happiness and Bremen Town Musicians episodes, respectively. He's extremely adorable.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCQs3vLotOc Samurai Dog]]", Pochiro's contribution to the ImageSong album. He may be pretty reserved and TheStraightMan most of the time in the series proper, but when he wants to, he can ''rock''.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
** Early in in episode 11, we see a team of ''Franchise/SuperSentai''-esque "Apple Rangers" fighting off a giant monster. This is never brought up again.
** From the same episode, Hols in a dress thanks to a misfired spell from Corrupted Snow White. [[LampshadeHanging Tart asks what the point of that was]].
%%* CompleteMonster: Geton, the Jyarei Monster who invaded ''The Mouse's Wedding'', was extremely cruel even by Jyarei standards, and considering [[EarthShatteringKaboom the goal of ALL Jyarei Monsters]], that's really saying something. He had his goons kidnap Cream and forced Bakumaru to make a SadisticChoice between saving either her or the Novel World. And because he chose to throw the fight and save Cream, Geton takes advantage of his lack of resistance and draws it out by whipping him mercilessly, nearly ''to death'', obviously enjoying every moment of it. It was ''very'' satisfying when Bakumaru dealt the finishing blow to him himself despite being horribly injured.
* DracoInLeatherPants: [[spoiler: Chocolat]] is often written as EasilyForgiven due to the FreudianExcuse. Rouran gets similar treatment, sometimes being shipped with Souffle.
* FanPreferredCouple: A good portion of fanart has Tart[[note]]Both forms, but mostly her first[[/note]] x Pochiro following the final episode.
** Pochiro also has a lot of potential to be paired with Jyuken The Gatekeeper after a scene where she glomps him in episode 31.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The series still has a rather active Chinese fanbase, especially on Baidu. [[EasternZodiac Given what the series is about, it's not that surprising]].
* HilariousInHindsight:
** Cream would share a name and a ''species'' with [[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog Cream the Rabbit]], seven years later.
** Tart looks like Helen Henny, a Creator/ChuckECheese character.
** [[VideoGame/{{MUGEN}} The floating continent of Mugen]] wouldn't be the last Mugen to contain the worlds and characters of every fictional universe imaginable.
** [[Franchise/KingdomHearts The Eto Rangers aren't the only ones who travel between worlds]] such as ''Aladdin'', ''The Little Mermaid'', and ''Pinocchio'' in order to fight monsters that don't belong there.
** When Bakumaru gets his hands on a BrandX Platform/GameBoy, he gets dizzy after the graphics jump out at him. Nintendo later made the Platform/VirtualBoy and Platform/Nintendo3DS, which featured 3D graphics that jumped out at you.
** [[spoiler: "Chocolat/Shokora"]] seems to be [[VideoGame/WarioLand a pretty common name for transformed black cats]].
** Two episodes are about ''Moby Dick'' and ''Frankenstein''. About 9 years later, WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents had a half-hour special called "Shelf Life" with the same premise as the series involving the same exact books.
** A cat fairy causing trouble for being embarrassed by an event? Are we talking [[spoiler: Chocolat]] or [[Anime/SuitePrettyCure Siren]]?
** The messed-up version of Snow White involves the seven dwarves turning tall, buff and shirtless. ''Film/MirrorMirror'' would make a RunningGag about Prince Charming (Creator/ArmieHammer) being buff and shirtless after being attacked by the same dwarves.
* IronWoobie: The Eto Rangers become this at the climax of the series after [[spoiler: watching their friends die.]]
* JerkassWoobie:
** Tart is a huge {{Jerkass}} with a HairTriggerTemper and violent tendencies, but is [[JerkassBall out-jerkassed in Episode 5]].
** Monk is another example, as he frequently engages in pranks that upset people, but he also gets plenty of moments where he's on the receiving end of humiliation [[spoiler:and in the GrandFinale, Monk goes ''berserk'' when Pochiro sacrifices himself to save Monk.]]
** [[spoiler:Chocolat, as her rampage is her attempt to get revenge against Princess Aura, who she thought had promised her a victory in the Etoranger qualification race if she started early, then disqualified her for seemingly no reason.]] Learning [[spoiler:Bagi]] was behind it all adds to this.
** Pochiro often picks on Monk and one time deliberately kicked a soccer ball at Tart but he's just so cute that you can't hate him. [[spoiler: Watching him die to protect Monk is downright heartbreaking.]]
** Bakumaru himself is a loudmouth BrattyHalfPint but he's practically beaten half to death by Geton in the Mouse's wedding episode. Plus, he also was a vicious speciest in the Puss In Boots episode but you still have to feel some sympathy for him on account on his PTSD-ish reactions to cats. By the climax of the series, Bakumaru has experienced so much loss that you just want to hug the poor brat.
* MemeticLoser: Nyorori. He [[SmallNameBigEgo tries so hard]] to be this badass and [[IntercourseWithYou suave]] GadgeteerGenius, but his creations are only ever shown falling apart, he hardly does anything useful throughout the entire series, and his character design is utterly adorable.
* {{Moe}}:
** Souffle the Lamb is the girliest and cutesiest member of the team. Her ADayInTheLimelight episode firmly cements how lovable she is.
** Pochiro. Whenever he shows his goofier, lighthearted, more comedic side, you can expect extreme levels of adorkable-ness that would give even Nyorori a run for his money. It's especially evident if Pochiro isn't wearing his usual outfit.
** Urii, who's an adorable little piglet and the TagalongKid of the rangers.
* MoralEventHorizon: Nyanma crossed it immediately after her initial transformation, when she [[spoiler: invoked DeadlineNews and shot Lydia ''just because he was there''.]]
* NeverLiveItDown: Hols and his WholesomeCrossdresser moment, brought on by a misfired spell from Corrupted Snow White. It only lasted for a few seconds and isn't brought up again, but it's brought up among the fandom a lot.
* PopularWithFurries: Considering that all of the main protagonists are FunnyAnimal characters, this was a given.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Hols and Drago are the two least-used out of all the Rangers, being the only ones to never get focus episodes. Their {{Image Song}}s [[AllThereInTheManual reveal]] that they're a constantly-agonized StepfordSmiler and a NotSoStoic TechnicalPacifist, respectively. The fandom generally agrees that they both could have been explored a lot better.
* ToyShip: Urii x Little Red Riding Hood. While whether it was actually a romance or just a friendship is left ambiguous, the other team members [[ShipperOnDeck sure seemed to think it was the former]].
* UnpopularPopularCharacter: While Tart's humanoid form has plenty of fans, she was by no means ''ugly'' in her original form like she was led to believe by the team, and most fans still prefer and depict her as a chicken.
* TheWoobie:
** Jyuken starts out being portrayed like the rest of the Jyarei, but is slowly revealed to be treated like dirt by the others, to the point where even during her most successful and dangerous act, she's only considered a decoy. This culminates when [[spoiler: her character arc ends in a ShootTheShaggyDog, not only never getting a real chance at redemption but also [[TheAssimilator making Nyanma even more powerful]].]]
** The corrupted wolf in the Little Red Riding Hood episode is so pathetic and terrified of being eaten that he could really use a hug.
