* BrokenBase:
** The humor used in the comic book, which is way beyond the standard amount of humor in superhero comics, is something that fans either love or hate.
** Batman punching out Guy Gardner gets this reaction too. Some fans love it saying it's just plain funny and/or Gardner [[TakeThatScrappy absolutely deserved it]]; others hate it, either being fans of Gardner or saying they don't like seeing superheroes infighting.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: ComicBook/BlueBeetle, ComicBook/BoosterGold, Guy Gardner, Fire, and Ice all gained a fair deal of popularity thanks to their appearances in this series. DC ''would'' eventually capitalise on the popularity of Booster and Guy, with Booster getting a large role in ''52'' and an ongoing series and Guy going to ''Green Lantern Corps'', making them {{Breakout Character}}s.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** In their very first scene, the natives of the Kooey Kooey Kooey island are complaining that offering it for a new JL embassy was a massively bad idea. Fast forward to the grand finale of Giffen's run, [[spoiler:where Dreamslayer kills them all]].
** From the same story: Booster jokingly tells the Beetle that he cannot wait to get back to New York so Max Lord can put a bullet between his eyes. Cue to ''[[ComicBook/InfiniteCrisis Countdown to Infinite Crisis]]'', where [[spoiler: Max Lord shoots the Blue Beetle in the head.]]
* HilariousInHindsight: Fire threatening Flash (Wally West) for trying to be a CasanovaWannabe with her is quite funny. As the two are a part of a team in ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague Unlimited'', with Wally clearly having a crush on Fire but is too shy to flirt with her.
* HoYay: Between Beetle and Booster, gradually increasing as the series went on. By the time of ''Super Buddies'', even the writers were openly acknowledging it in the stories.
** After returning from a dangerous mission on Apocalypse, the team starts to split up to rest and recover. Fire says, "Hot bath?" Ice responds, "Hot bath." It really sounds like they were planning on bathing ''together''.
* NeverLiveItDown:
** The series' frequent use of self-deprecating humor had a somewhat negative impact on the cast after the book was cancelled, with most of the characters branded as incompetent jokesters by their fellow superheroes and even other writers. Blue Beetle was probably hit the hardest by this, being regarded as an annoying buffoon right up until his violent death.[[note]]According to Keith Giffen, this was precisely why the ComicBook/WonderWoman office was so determined to keep her as far away from the team as possible.[[/note]]
** The Super Buddies mini-series essentially opened with a WhereAreTheyNow segment showing just how far most of the JLI members had fallen since their time on the League. For instance, Fire was reduced to operating a soft-core porn website, and L-Ron was now shown working at a burger joint.
** Guy Gardner will never ever live down getting knocked out by Batman in one punch.
** Also subverted with Booster Gold as he was already viewed as a bit of an incompetent glory hound before the series (and loved by readers for that very reason). As the exposure the series lead to Booster appearing in more series, his writers capitalized on the JLI's infamy by having Booster [[ObfuscatingStupidity use his reputation to his advantage]].
%%* SignatureScene: Batman knocking out Guy Gardner with one punch. Why is it famous?
* TearJerker:
** The funeral issue for Mr. Miracle was this from beginning to end. Lessened somewhat since the reader knew that wasn't the real Mr. Miracle.
** Amanda Waller's guilt and horror at accidentally triggering a failsafe in Beetle's brainwashing that puts him into a coma, especially as she holds him and begs him to wake up.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: The latest version of team following the reboot. They somehow managed to take what used to be the fun Justice League and made it... well, [[DarkerAndEdgier not fun]].
* UnintentionalUncannyValley: Some of Kevin Maguire's artwork (Especially facial expressions) can cross into this with how realistic they can get sometimes.
* {{Wangst}}: ComicBook/{{Metamorpho}} spends nearly every panel mopey or pissed off.
