* CompleteMonster: Owlman was already a criminal and founding member of the Crime Syndicate of America. Upon discovering the existence of the multiverse, Owlman became enraged by the fact that, with every choice a person makes, they literally create another world in which they made the opposite choice. Determined that his choices had to affect not only his world, but all existence, Owlman journeyed to Earth-Prime, the Earth that supported the existence of all other Earths, planning to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy all reality in a fit of existential angst.]] About as selfish as they come, Owlman was reviled even by his compatriots in the CSA.

* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: The main theme (and closing credits theme) are among the best of the animated DCU films.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Ah, Jester. WeHardlyKnewYe.
** Many people were very, very impressed with James Woods as Owlman.
* FetishFuelStationAttendant: Superwoman.
* FoeYay: Good Lord, Batman and Superwoman. From their introduction until he manages to get the best of her is just one big {{UST}}-filled FoeYay scene. She even ''kisses'' him and offers to keep him as a pet. [[MemeticMolester Batman needs an adult.]]
* FridgeBrilliance: Why doesn't Lex just whip out the Kryptonite before Ultraman starts pounding on him? Because if he did, Ultraman would fall out of range giving him time to recover and adapt. So Lex saves it till Ultraman has him pinned on a roof.
* GeniusBonus: Owlman naming his [[EarthShatteringKaboom planet buster]] the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q.E.D QED]]
* HoYay: Ultraman referring to the parallel universe version of Jimmy Olsen as his "boy" might have some subtext to it, considering that unlike the comic this animated film's version of the other Jimmy is a big, strapping, hulking brute. Not a bad match for an evil FlyingBrick like Ultraman, eh?
* InternetBackdraft: There's complaints over the idea that [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks Superwoman may be the evil amalgam of Mary Marvel instead of Wonder Woman.]] Comic Mythos really is SeriousBusiness.
** This is in part because it reminds the fanbase of the CountdownToFinalCrisis series where the regular Mary Marvel turned evil, which was not well received.
* NightmareFuel: An evil {{Expy}} Of Batman that sounds like James Woods?
* OneSceneWonder: Batman's reinforcements on the satellite, maybe the most outstanding one is Aquaman.
** ComicBook/{{Firestorm}} shows hints of being a DeadpanSnarker.
* RomanticPlotTumor: The main story is about the league trying to liberate an alternate earth from an evil Justice League, but a good deal of time is spent developing a romance between [[ThePresidentsDaughter Rose Wilson-2]] and MartianManhunter. Had the story taken place in the Franchise/{{DCAU}} (as originally intended) it would have probably been valuable character development for him (indeed, in the actual DCAU, J'onn is PutOnABus to go on a soul-search to learn how to connect to humans), but it's pointless when that's taken out of the equation.
* {{Squick}}: As Superwoman is the expy of Mary Marvel rather than Wonder Woman, this implies that she is in her late teens at the oldest. Either she's good at keeping secrets, or Owlman is a creepy weirdo. Moreso, at least.
** Also, when she casually reaches over and snaps one of Batman's ribs like she was breaking a twig.
* StrangledByTheRedString: Rose Wilson has a crush on MartianManhunter. The Martian inadvertently discovers they're "attuned" when he accidentally reads her thoughts (something he'd never do by accident with a non attuned person.) He then Mind Melds with her so that they can get to know each other instantly and fall completely in love. Martians apparently have no need to date.
* {{Tearjerker}}:
** [[AlasPoorVillain Alas, poor Johnny Quick]]. Even Batman (who'd set him up for it) seemed devastated. Just pay attention when he tells Johnny to stop running.
--> '''Batman''': Johnny I'm back! Stop vibrating! ''Stop!''
** The Jesters death near the beginning. That and Lex begging him to not go through with it.
--> '''Jester''': (''resigned'') It's time to get serious Lex.
--> '''Batman''': No! We can make it together! We can do this!
--> '''Jester''': (''smiles sadly'') Get your shinny bald head out of here, it's hurting my eyes.
* TheyJustDidntCare: Not that the movie was bad, but it can be painfully obvious that the movie was designed as ''JusticeLeagueUnlimited'' Prequel. Not much effort was put into actually retooling the story or tone outside of replacing John Stewart, the DCAU Green Lantern, with Hal Jordan - some of Hal's lines could have easily been spoken by John with no real difference.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: So much story potential in watching Superman interact with a noble, heroic version of Lex Luthor...
