!!YMMV tropes for the fanfic ''Fanfic/{{Infinity}}'':

* RonTheDeathEater: A lot of reviewers for the story seem to like painting Amaterasu as a viler villain than she really is. Granted, [[BloodKnight her]] [[PsychoLesbian habits]] don't exactly help, but even Signum, the most frequent target of them, can't admit she fully hates her. By contrast, not as many people seem to mind Susanoo and Tsukiyomi, even though they have just as many issues.
** To be fair to reviewers, Susanoo and Tsukiyomi have not yet harmed outsiders except their intended target, and don't use excessive force at the drop of hat. Well, excessive that could harm [[InnocentBystander Innocent Bystanders]], that is. To be equally fair though, the only people Amaterasu has intentionally tried to kill were trying to capture her, and the only one she's critically injured was a TSAB agent, that can't exactly be called an InnocentBystander.
*** The dislike probably stems from the fact that Amaterasu is powerful enough that she doesn't ''need'' to resort to lethal force when fighting opponents, yet chooses to do so anyway. [[FridgeHorror She's basically tried to kill characters that we've really come to like]] ''[[FridgeHorror just so she can get off on it.]]''
* TearJerker
%%** Tsukuyomi's first assignment.
%% How?
** Amaterasu talks with Nanoha, [[NotSoDifferentRemark in which she finds some kinship with her]], regarding their family and always feeling like the third wheel among their siblings.
*** In chapter 41, the entire [[DrowningMySorrows Drunk!Amaterasu's]] [[MotiveRant rant]] can be seen at this... if only it had taken place somewhere other than the ''[[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments medical bay]]''.
** [[spoiler: Precia]] choosing to die, empty, and alone rather than continue her destructive cycle.
** [[HeroicSacrifice "Let's go to sleep dear hearts. The end comes soon, I think. Does anyone really want to see it?"]]
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: As more than one reviewer noted.
** Section Black and the Combat Cyborgs. An extensive shadow group within the TSAB, originating from almost its founding supported by BodyHorror AndIMustScream robots. It would have been a great way to examine the darker side of the TSAB and turn the fic to surreal horror and HumansAreTheRealMonsters. Instead the combat cyborgs are fairly easily defeated, the group vanishes halfway through the fic and [[spoiler: all of it is disbanded (making everyone {{Karma Houdini}}s) after the case]]. Unfortunately necessary, given the fic is meant to be an {{Interquel}}, and that Jail ''has'' to an unidentified actor for the plot of [=StrikerS=]
** The Twilight Empire. The most powerful magical Empire ever with a rich, complex history and unprecedented techomagical development. [[spoiler: It vanishes back into the void with most of its history and culture unexamined. Yuuno must be frothing at the mouth.]]
*** Related to this, Enlil declares war on the TSAB. The resulting civil war caused by a reborn Empire backed by the height of magical technology and essentially a Deathstar could have been its own series.

[[folder:Marvel Comics event]]
!!YMMV Tropes for the Creator/MarvelComics event ''{{Comicbook/Infinity}}'':

* ContinuityLockout: While ''Infinity'' is generally seen as one of Marvel's best event comics of recent years, understanding a lot of the story requires reading the preceding issues of both ''Avengers'' and ''New Avengers'', with ''Avengers'' itself being a barely disguised companion piece to ''New Avengers''. In this context, the story feels less like an event and more like the logical next chapter in Hickman's run, which just happens to be three times longer than usual and to have a load of tie-ins.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Among Thanos' lieutenants, [[UnholyMatrimony Corvus and Proxima]] seem to have gained a great deal of popularity.
* HarsherInHindsight: Thanks to the whole "terrigen sterilises mutants" retcon that Marvel pulled after ''ComicBook/SecretWars2015'', the events of ''Infinity'' can be seen quite differently. Instead of Black Bolt nobly sacrificing his people's home to try to halt Thanos, while at the same time starting a new Inhuman age... it's him sterilising mutants in order to save ''one person'', Thanos' son Thane (which apparently ends incredibly badly, as ''Infinity'' says Thane turns into a bigger villain than Thanos), and essentially have his people replace mutants!
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: Rare villain example. In the Black Order and Thanos [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dxIZcgZ89tM/U0RirIi0lJI/AAAAAAAAAjM/Bwb1XxmSezk/s1600/Marvel-Infinity-TheBlackOrder-Thanos-Poster.png superspread poster]], Thanos, Ebony Maw, and Supergiant appear to be looking at the reader, and Black Dwarf is roaring to the stars. Corvus and Proxima only have eyes for each other. At the time of the poster's release, it was not common knowledge that they were going to be a married couple.
* LesYay: Leinil Yu draws every scene with Ex Nihila and [[Comicbook/MsMarvel Captain Marvel]] as if the former was sexually molesting the latter.
* StrangledByTheRedString: The out-of-nowhere pairing of Cannonball and Izzy Kane, the new Smasher[[note]]A newly-empowered human member of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, who is basically an {{expy}} of [[ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes Ultra Boy]].[[/note]] Up to that point, the two of them had only been in a handful of group shots together and hadn't shared so much as an on-screen conversation.

[[folder:Tabletop Game]]
* AwesomeButImpractical:
** The [=TAGs=] in general have this opinion, due to their high cost, big size and needing the entire list to revolve around them for them to be effective (even cheap ones like Geckos skew their lists). Not helped that when a TAG is killed, a third of your points is gone. Amended a little by making all pilots be Specialist Troops as well, making them eligible for scoring objectives, and making a few TAG-based missions. Hence why most competitive people only consider [=TAGs=] that are either extremely good (Avatar, Sphinx, Cutter) or cheap enough to fit into a list without skewing it too much (Geckos, Maghariba Guard, Scarface).
** Smart Missile Launchers. Raining missiles from the sky without having Line of Fire sounds cool until you realize you need several Orders to mark the target, the guided missiles can be hacked and units that they would be the most effective against ([=TAGs=]) almost all have countermeasures. On top of it it's usually easier to just destroy or glue the TAG with a cheap Missile Launcher/Panzerfaust/ADHL troop and if you have a hacker in range to use Spotlight on a TAG or Heavy Infantry, you may as well just hack them.
* DemonicSpiders: [=TAGs=], when you lack hackers, [=ADHL=]or heavy missile launchers, are capable of taking down whole lists alone. The Chaksa Auxiliars with Neuro-Cinetics and Heavy Machine Guns in Tohaa lists will give you more problems than their elite units simply by shooting the crap out of your units in your own turn. [=SASCRAPs=]/Caterans in New Caledonian Highlander lists effectively play a shell game, is it a sniper that can pick off my tough elite units or is it an [=SAS=] commando ready to gun down your cheerleaders. And then there's [[MemeticMutation FUCKING GHAZI]], running around dropping smoke and isolating your units.
