* HarsherInHindsight: The section on how to deal with the Film/ChildrenOfTheCorn originally had a joke about Music/MichaelJackson being a pedophile in it. This was removed in the 2019 edition, likely because (Leaving Neverland and its huge controversy aside) such jokes became a lot less comfortable after his death.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** One of the stereotypical horror movie characters listed is "The Sex-Crazed Jerkass A-Hole (or 'Italian')". This book was originally written in 2007; guess what show came out two years later...
** One of the signs to immediately say "no" to babysitting is "There's an escaped ____ on the loose." It then says that any noun in that space is probably lethal, "with the possible exception of 'pony'." Given the existence of a certain infamous fanfic, it's safe to say that "pony" is no longer an exception in the Terrorverse.
** On the list of animals not to trust in the Terrorverse is sloths -- the narrator admits that they're only on there because they're the only animals that share a name with one of the SevenDeadlySins. Years after the book's release, we'd get Slotherhouse, a horror movie about a killer sloth.
* SpiritualSuccessor: In the appendix to the updated 2019 version of the book, Seth Grahame-Smith referred to Film/TheCabinInTheWoods as this, calling it "the reason there will never be a movie adaptation of the book you're currently reading."
