* FoodPorn: Come on, tell us you didn't drool when they started eating that giant oatmeal cream pie...
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: The episode from the TV series in which Owen and Bret Hart guest star is kind of depressing and awkward to watch now in light of Owen's accidental death from a stunt gone wrong and Bret's stroke (facilitated by the concussions that forced him into retirement from wrestling).
* JustHereForGodzilla: When the original film was released, it was paired up with the Roger Rabbit cartoon Tummy Trouble, with some people being more interested in the new Roger Rabbit short than the actual film. Creator/GeneSiskel and Creator/RogerEbert actually pointed this out when they reviewed the film on Series/SiskelAndEbert.
* MoralEventHorizon: Near the end of Honey, I Blew Up the Kid, Dr. Hendrickson plans to shoot Adam with tranquilizer darts from a helicopter. As they're currently in downtown Las Vegas, the copter pilot protests that if one of the darts hits the giant baby Adam, there's a chance he might fall into the gathered crowd. Then Dr. Hendrickson crosses the line with one statement:
--> Dr. Hendrickson: Well, we'll just have to hope that doesn't happen.
* NightmareFuel
** The entire scorpion sequence from the first movie, as well as poor Nick almost being eaten by his father.
** Really, any of the giant creepy-crawlies. It's best not to watch these movies if you're insectophobic.
* ParanoiaFuel: You'll never eat your breakfast the same way again.
* RetroactiveRecognition:
** Creator/RickMoranis is Wayne.
** The other parents are Julie Kotter, Series/MaxHeadroom and Joyce Summers.
** Wayne's hostile co-worker in Blew Up The Kid is Lex Luthor, while his boss is Creator/LloydBridges.
** And Wayne in the TV Show is the Garfunkel other guy from Series/BosomBuddies.
*** Also in the TV Show, Kaylee is Tiara VanHorn.
** In Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, Wayne's niece is played by Chloe Sullivan, while his brother is played by Bob Charles and Earl Sinclair.
** Nick's love interest in the second movie is Creator/KeriRussell.
** Nick on the TV series is played by John Connor and Ar'nox the alien is Mentok the Mind Taker.
** In Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, Dr. Nigel Channing is Creator/EricIdle.
** A behind the scenes example: Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves was the directorial debut of noted cinematographer DeanCundey (as of 2014, his only foray into directing) and co-written by none other than Joel Hodgson.
** Tuna Cassera is a JerkJock in We Shrunk Ourselves.
** From the same movie, Buster Stupid has a crush on a young Meg Griffin.
* Sequelitis: Neither of the two sequels were anywhere near as popular as the first, although some fans consider Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves to be a SurprisinglyImprovedSequel compared to Honey, I Blew Up the Kid.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: The instrumental theme of the first movie includes an obvious pastiche of Raymond Scott's "Powerhouse B", to the point that Scott's estate sued (and latter settled with Disney) because of the similarity.
* TearJerker: Ron's reaction makes it even worse. Then the camera slowly moves away and we can see the other kids are just as devastated.
** Not to mention Amy's near drowning before Russ is able to resuscitate her with CPR. After she wakes up Nick can't hold it in anymore, and he hugs her as tears start pouring down his eyes. Seeing how scared he was at how close his sister was to dying is enough to get anyone misty-eyed.
** In the sequel, giant-sized baby Adam's almost hurt by the tranquilizers and being hurt by the electricity from the Hard Rock Cafe guitar prop the tranquilizer hit made Adam cry. So much that even the crowd, who were moments ago afraid of Adam, become concerned and worried for him. It also drove people to tears as well. Even worse when he calls for his mommy, who is still normal-sized and unable to comfort him.
* UglyCute: Anty behaves like a loyal puppy dog (of course) and makes a friendly-sounding trilling noise, but it looks exactly like a proportionately gigantic ant is supposed to.
* VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The forest-like lawn and even Anty still hold up amazingly well years later.
** Some exceptions notwithstanding, the effects and camera tricks that enlarge Adam throughout the movie still make the result convincing in several shots.
