* ArcFatigue: The whole Ashtaroth saga takes forever, with a lot of lame plot twists.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The opening of the anime is catchy as the afterlife that ghosts goes to, but it is pretty awesome at least when you [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EloWc8_L5CY hear it.]]
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The series used to have a big fanbase in Latin America, especially in countries like Chile and Argentina. In the latter, ask anybody about "a certain series about a redheaded ghost hunter" and nine times out of ten they'll exclaim: "MIKAMI!"
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Luciola. [[spoiler: Being Yokoshima's first ''real'' love--as in, not the primarily-lust he held towards Mikami--helps a lot, it seems.]]
** For that matter, Yokoshima himself. Even in-universe, arguably.
* GrowingTheBeard: After Yokoshima [[spoiler: entered the GS Tournament and won his own spirituals Abilities]], the series changes a lot. The style changes, giving more screen time to battles and less to Gag and Ecchi. Also, it starts focusing a lot on Yokoshima [[spoiler: who stops only being the series ButtMonkey to develop into the series' God-Mode Sue and ButtMonkey (at the same time)]].
* [[HoYay Les Yay]]:
** Standard operating procedure for Suzume.
** Strongly implied that Meiko has a crush on Mikami.
* HilariousinHindsight:
** Mikami is a greedy but super-smart fighter (voiced by Creator/HiromiTsuru) and Yokoshima is a badass fighter (voiced by Creator/RyoHorikawa). Both could be carbon copies of Bulma and Vegeta, down to their voice actors.
** The Creator/RumikoTakahashi cameo in chapter 371 is even funnier now that Shiina is drawing the manga version of ''Anime/YashahimePrincessHalfDemon''.
* {{Macekre}}: The movie's English dub by Manga Entertainment. To give an example of the dub's quality, Manga Entertainment reversed the order of Reiko Mikami's name to "Mikami Reiko" which doesn't make sense for an English translation.[[note]]unless if its historical figures or time periods or to preserve the pun[[/note]] You'd think someone would've spot checked that, but no, it made it through. And that's the ''least'' of this dub's problems.
* {{Moe}}: Okinu.
* SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames: The series got a CultClassic action-platformer for the SNES that managed to preserve the weirdness of the original (one level has Mikami shrunken down and riding a cat through Tokyo!).
* TheScrappy: Poor Saijou...
* SoBadItsGood: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy-1A2CszOQ The "Engrish" version of the opening]] which was sung by Ami Mimatsu instead of Chie Harada. [[http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/gsmikami/gsmidegs.htm In fact, you still have to read the lyrics to understand what she's saying]].
* TearJerker:
** [[http://www.onemanga.com/Ghost_Sweeper_Mikami/224/01/ This last chapter of the "Death Zone" arc.]]
** And then there's Yokoshima's HeroicBSOD after [[spoiler: having to personally destroy the energy crystal to stop Ashtaroth, even though that zeroes any chance of resurrecting Luciola]].
