* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Was Uriel really blindsided by Colin Murphy? Or was he just maintaining plausible deniability in front of Harry? Either is possible.
* CompleteMonster: Corpsetaker. See [[YMMV/DeadBeat here]].
* GeniusBonus: When Harry [[TheNicknamer refers to Uriel as "Uri,"]] Uriel gets angry and tells Dresden that he's left off the most important part of the name. Like many angel names, the "-el" suffix in Uriel denotes that he serves {{God}}. The name comes from Hebrew, and means "God is my light." Which may be why he accepts "Mr. Sunshine" as a nickname. For further points (and explaining just why Mr. Sunshine utterly freaked out), there was another archangel whose name is associated with light but not with God: Lucifer.
* KarmaHoudini: While they are sympathetic, Fitz and his crew murdered an old man and gravely wounded another in their assassination attempt, and ultimately escape any consequences when they are given sanctuary by Father Forthill. This is arguably an in-universe case of of ProtagonistCenteredMorality, as Murphy makes this exact point to Harry, who sees only Aristedes as culpable.
* TooBleakStoppedCaring: This book is considered to be a low point by some, since the majority of the story is Harry sitting around angsting over what an idiot he was in the last book, and everyone else angsting about Harry not being around.
