* NightmareFuel: For all the films flawed effects, the sequences of he aliens glowing eyes as they’re in silhouette is quite effective in [[NothingIsScarier hiding their true form]].
* {{Sequelitis}}: Generally regarded as where this started to kick in for the Showa series.
* SoBadItsGood: To many fans, but this film is still the start of Gamera's downward spiral into a laughing stock.
** Though Gamera vs. Jiger would undo some of the damage slightly while still being plenty SoBadItsGood.
* TearJerker: For all the hijinks they got up to earlier in the film, Jim and Masao decide to aim for a HeroicSacrifice by beckoning for the military to attack the ship, because two children dying would be nothing to handing the Earth over. Their parent's absolute distress at such a choice is fittingly moving.
** Additionally, having to choose between surrendering to Viras or shooting down his ship is a [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption no-win situation]] in and of itself. Surrendering is self-explanatory, with the aliens succeeding in their conquest of Earth. However, if the army had fought back against the aliens and Jim and Masao were killed in the crossfire, Earth would then be at the mercy of a ''very'' pissed off Gamera, [[BerserkButton who would've been furious that two kids were murdered]] [[SenselessSacrifice in an attempt to free him that wasn't even guaranteed]], [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge and would've very likely continued attacking cities once more without any alien intervention or mind control being a factor]].
