* BaseBreaker: [[FinalGirl Lori Campbell.]] Some think she's among the worst Final Girls in the series, if not the worst, because of Monica Keena's notoriously poor performance and the character being a very shallow stereotype. Others think she's a very brave and likable girl who manages to become a {{Badass}} at the end.
** [[SassyBlackWoman Kia]] as well. Some viewers very much enjoyed [[KellyRowland Kelly Rowland's]] LargeHam performance and found the character to be both amusing and likeable. Others found her to be nothing more than a grating, poorly written stereotype and felt Kelly's performance was amongst the worst in the movie.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: When Freddy enters Lori's dream about the others wanting to sacrifice her, disguised as her father, to french kiss her. No reason why he's disguised as her father and no mention of the events of that dream from either of them.
** Why is he disguised as her father? Just to add another level of MindScrew. It adds to her fear and that's what he's all about.
* CompleteMonster: At the end of the day, as Freddy learned, Jason is always going to be a traumatized, disfigured little boy acting out over the loss of the one person who cared about him, while Freddy has always been a twisted psychopathic child murderer who prolongs the suffering of his victims for his own pleasure.
* CultClassic: Being a crossover film featuring two iconic horror villains does that.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Gibb (due to being played by popular scream queen KatharineIsabelle) and [[TheStoner Freeburg]] (because of his hilarious one-liners) tend to be the best received of the teens.
* EpilepticTrees: The film's ending generated a lot of WildMassGuessing; Ken Kirzinger(Jason's actor) mentioned in the commentary that a fan had asked him if the ending represented [[AscendedDemon Jason going to Heaven]].
* JustHereForGodzilla: Most people watch this film just for the fight, ignoring the forgettable humans entirely.
** It doesn't help that each character's name is only said a few times (if at all).
* MoralEventHorizon: Setting Jason on Springwood was bad enough, molesting Lori with a tongue kiss was more disturbing, but Freddy shows how depraved he can be when he reveals [[spoiler:not only did he kill her mother, but afterwards decides to rape Lori before killing her as well.]]
* TheScrappy: While most characters have a few fans, no one likes Will. Jason Ritter's poor acting (to the point of smiling when his friends are dying) tends to be the biggest reason why.
* SoCoolItsAwesome: Freddy Krueger fights Jason Voorhees. [[PunctuatedForEmphasis Best. Idea. EVER!]]
* SpiritualSuccessor: Or is it Spiritual ''Predecessor''? In November 1984, ''Fangoria'' magazine ran a 5-page color comic strip entitled "1st ''Fangoria'' Splatterbowl," by comic artists John Arnold and Linwood Sasser, wherein [[Franchise/{{Halloween}} Michael Myers]] took on Jason Voorhees and [[Franchise/TheTexasChainsawMassacre Leatherface]].
* {{Squick}}: Freddy kissing Lori in the form of her father, complete with sticking his tongue in her mouth.
** Freddy [[spoiler:lifts Lori's skirt with a clear intent to rape her]].
* TakeThat: During an episode of ''Nick Cannon Presents Wild 'N Out'' on MTV, Kelly Rowland accepted a "Thanks For Nothing" award for ''Freddy vs. Jason''. Although the skit intended to poke fun at some actors' more embarassing projects, Kelly accepted her "award" with a one-line Take That:
--> Fifty million opening week, thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Blake. Immediately after losing his best friend, Trey, and swearing revenge on Trey's killers... he's unceremoniously killed off by Jason
