* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: Kain's jump attack at the end of "Grrl".
* MoralEventHorizon: [[spoiler: Kuro]] fucking '''eats''' [[spoiler: Mog]] alive!
* OneSceneWonder: [[spoiler: Red XIII]] appears in only one episode, but his final moments [[spoiler: in which he dies fighting for the side of good and refusing to compromise his morality]] are incredibly awesome.
* TearJerker: Any one of the characters' deaths that take place in this series counts. It is very hard to see these heroes, who have been through the best and worst of times in their respective games, die ignobly against each other.
** ''Hiryuu'', in particular, features a harrowing chase between Lenna's dragon and [[CoolAirship the Falcon]][[spoiler:, ending in Hiryuu destroying the Falcon and killing Edgar, Sabin, Setzer and Tifa on board. As Kain clenches his fist in triumph, Celes bows her head in sorrow for the deaths of her friends]].
*** The music that plays over the credits[[note]]Enya's ''Smaointe''[[/note]] is especially heartbreaking if you know the lyrics.
---->''Listen to my heart, forever sad''
* TooBleakStoppedCaring: Characters are slaughtered left and right. Anything the heroic characters in the series try to do ends in complete failure while the villains are borderline invincible. Even the BreatherEpisode late in the series that focuses on Edgar, Sabin, and Tifa retroactively is hit with this, due to [[spoiler: Kain effortlessly using his control of Lenna's dragon to have it kill all of them almost immediately after]]. As a result, it can be hard for some people to care what happens considering that it soon becomes predictable that anytime someone tries to go up against Kain or his allies they'll automatically die.
