* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: For example, Greg is the kind of {{Cowardly Lion}} who you'd ''never'' meet in the bad part of Bed-Stuy. But, Greg had shown up to meet Chris and dissuaded Chris from going along with the plan of being a lookout. Had it not been for Greg's dissuasion and concern, Chris would have likely gone along with the plan of the cool kids and gotten into trouble. This is one of the few instances in which Greg actually helped Chris get out of a serious situation.
** Another example is when Julius reveals to Rochelle the reason for having a credit card... and the reason (buying Rochelle's ring) promptly does something that Julius has never been able to do during their time together: shut her up.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: This show is very popular with Brazilian audiences. ''Absurdly'' popular. Teenagers actually quote the show in every possible instance.
* HilariousInHindsight: Greg was shown to wear costumes as pajamas. One of them included a {{ComicBook/Robin}} costume. A few years later, his actor, Vincent Martella, would do the voice of the teenage Jason Todd in ''WesternAnimation/BatmanUnderTheRedHood''.
** In the series finale, Chris' mother mocks Chris for trying to justify going for a GED by pointing out Bill Cosby got a GED because Bill Cosby was a comedian. In recent years, it's a pretty good thing she didn't want Chris to be like Bill Cosby.
* HoYay: At least, this is how 2 different pairs of girls view a couple of ''passionate'' arguments between Chris and Greg.
* InformedWrongness: Anytime Chris ever complains or stresses over the fact his completely sucks he's always portrayed as being wrong.
* RetroactiveRecognition: Now when you see Julius, you'll probably be thinking "That's the [[Advertising/TheManYourManCouldSmellLike Old Spice "POWER!"]] guy!"
* TheScrappy:
** Everybody hates Tonya. And that fact is not even a joke with the show's title.
** Other characters seems to have this kind of treatment just for being a complete dick with Chris. Examples are Caruso and Miss Morello.
** Rochelle's snobbery, short temper, immaturity, and such can become incredibly grating at times. Not to mention it makes it pretty clear where Tonya gets her behavior from.
* TakeThatScrappy:
** Anytime Tonya gets busted.
** When Julius gives Rochelle a classy shut up when he revealed that he made a credit card account so he could buy their wedding rings. May count as a CrowningMomentOfAwesome.
* TheWoobie: Chris, of course. He feels like he is in Drew's shadow all the time, his sister is a brat, his parents discipline him more than plenty, and he always gets picked on all the time.
