* {{Anvilicious}}: The series is not subtle at all with its message of carrying on instead of taking the easy way out. While being a part of the Colloid gives the vulnerable some measure of comfort before their consciousness melds with the rest of the structure, the most prominent characters do not agree with the action, are confused and skeptical of [[spoiler:the Colloid using itself to create a new universe, one that some who enter it hope they can have more favorable circumstances in]]; and when faced with either human struggle or the choice to assimilate, extra positive focus is put on the people who choose to keep on living. The story also has very heavy emphasis on how destructive drugs are.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: Believe it or not, the attention to detail is amazing. One may not get it due the OnlySixFaces trope, but the clothes, cities, weapons, attention to the accessories, skin tones, etc. make the simplistic faces contrast a lot with the really detailed pages.
* NightmareFuel: Starts on page 16, with giant bugs crawling out of a closure virus victim's body, and just keeps on going from there.
* ReplacementScrappy: Some western readers were not fond of [[spoiler:Miriam]] taking [[spoiler:Helena]]'s place as Elijah's LoveInterest, especially for certain questionable decisions in her character arc and her completely opposite circumstances ([[spoiler:Helena took charge and had sexual experience, while Miriam was a virgin who is led around by Elijah]]).
* {{Squick}}: Goes hand in hand with the gorn. Elijah gets his own moment when Helena throws her semen-filled underwear on his face, telling him to go clean off the residue left by her latest customer.
* TearJerker: There are many, but [[spoiler: The new Big Bang, together with Ennoia's death, while "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l04yM7-BWbg People Get Ready]]" is in the background, it's both amazing, sad and heartwarming, words can't describe it.]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me6-KUL5h9s Now as a motion comic.]]
* TooBleakStoppedCaring: It can be hard to get invested in characters sometimes due to the fact that basically anyone not named Elijah could be killed off unceremoniously at any time, and most do.
